  • LOVE THIS POWER STRIP!!!
Size: 15ft Power Cord Style: 6 Outlet
I didn't even know they made power strips that had cords this long! We just moved to a new house, but it’s an old house hahaha. There are very few outlets throughout the house, and they are terribly placed. We kept running out of outlets for our devices and needed to get better access to outlets for the devices. We already had outlet multipliers (I’m not sure what they’re actually called) where you plug in an extender into your outlet so that you now have 6 outlets where there were originally just two. But those kept making the power go out in the house, and we’d have to go to the fuse box and switch the fuses off and back on multiple times a day. Which was a SUPER headache because my husband and I both work from home and need reliable internet connection to do our jobs! And on top of that, those outlet multipliers did not solve the issue of poor outlet placement. We still needed better access to our outlets because trying to plug the computer and tv and phones and tablets all in behind our bed just wasn’t cutting it. So I decided to check Amazon (my go-to for pretty much everything in life haha) and see if they had any power strips with extra long cords. I really didn’t think I would find anything, because I had never seen or heard of any such thing. And they really must not be too popular, because there weren’t very many available that I could find. But then I saw this Kensington one. And Kensington being a brand I know and trust, I was excited to try it out. I loved that it came with surge protection, because even though I have absolutely NO idea what surge protection even is, it SOUNDED like that’s just what we needed to prevent the power from shutting off on us every time we tried plugging multiple things in. And low and behold, the power hasn’t shut off since! We bought two of these, one for our bedroom, and one for our kids’ room, and both of them are plugged in to the maximum with devices that are running mostly all day if not all day. In our bedroom, we have our big-screen tv, our desktop computer plugged in, a mini fridge, and a humidifier that are all pretty much always running 24/7. We also then plug in our cell phones and laptops intermittently into the remaining outlets on the strip whenever we need those charged. Our daughters’ room also has a big-screen tv, a Roku device, humidifier, and a fan that are all usually running about 24/7. Then they will plug in their tablet to charge whenever that needs charging too. So, in general, both strips are maxed out almost all day everyday, and we have not had another power shutoff since purchasing these. Oh! Also, this may seem small and insignificant to other people, but it’s SUPER important to us…the fact that the outlets on the strip are all 3-pronged and they all face up and down, and not side to side. On ALL of our other power strips (regular length ones, and not Kensingtons), the individual outlets on the strip all face side to side: they look like this =- But on these Kensingtons, the outlets face up and down like this ‘.’

What that means, is that all of our chargers can fit next to each other on the strip at the same time. Even those chargers that are extra long and bulky (You know, the ones that would normally cover up both outlets on a standard wall outlet - Like how most hair blow dryers have) can fit next to each other. On our other power strips, there are times when we can’t use all the ports on it because one of our chargers is long and covers up the next port on the strip. It’s random, but it’s a huge deal for us! My husband is ready to purchase another one for the living room so that we can have better port access than behind the couch for everything! We love these power strips and are sooooo glad that Kensington makes this length of power strips! Great quality, and great length! We absolutely recommend this product for anyone looking! ... show more

  • Works well for *most* plugs and adapters
Size: 16-Foot Cord Style: Tabletop (1500 Joules, 16' Cord)
I'm going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars so I guess I give it 3.5. The SmartSockets Circular Power Strip is attractive and does the job. I got the dark gray one and it is unobtrusive sitting on the second shelf of my black glass entertainment center. As opposed to the bright white regular surge protector strip I have sitting on the bottom shelf. The SmartSockets seems to take up less space and is much less noticeable. I read one review where someone said it was pretty large so I was a little concerned about that. Not to worry. It is appropriately sized. I've had it for a few weeks and the only complaint I have so far is that it doesn't work well with right angle power adapters. My reason for choosing this design is because I was tired of only being able to use half the outlets on the strip due to power adapters that hog up the space next to them. The SmartSockets works well for most adapters but I have a couple where the body of the adapter sits at a right angle to the prongs instead of below it. I guess the manufacturers of those products figured we were plugging those directly into the wall and didn't want to hog up both outlets on the wall. Nice of them. However the design doesn't work with this product. The outlets on the circular model are still too close together to allow me to make use of all the outlets when I have right angle adapters plugged in. That's why this gets 3-4 stars instead of 5. I originally wanted to buy the Quirky Pivot flexible surge protector. I've had one under my bed for years and I love it, save for its annoyingly bright light. I went to purchase another one and couldn't find it in stores so I came to Amazon. The reviews about it being a fire hazard scared me so I went on the hunt for an alternative and wound up with this Kensington item. I think the Quirky would work better with the right angle power adapters but I don't know how it would do with a heavy load as the item that are plugged into it in the bedroom aren't all that power hungry. Check out what type of plugs you have and plan accordingly. ... show more
