I don't know if I somehow got ripped off and didn't get the actual Kenra product, because I have read other reviews that were good. And I don't know how that would even happen. All I know is that the shampoo and conditioner both had a very light purple color to them which seems to jive with what I've read on the description of the product. Just for clarification, I have very thick but fine hair. It's gotten thicker in recent years due to grey coming in. My natural hair color is dark brown. But I have been bleaching it blonde in the last year. So I decided to try this because I try to keep my hair a whitish silver blonde. It's not even close to the typical blonde when you think of blonde hair, I think more of a yellowy gold color comes to mind because most natural blondes tend to have natural golden tones in their hair. I am very pale, so gold or yellow doesn't look good on my skin tone. I really wish it did. So I did use it a few times to give it a chance but I had to stop using it, because right off the bat I noticed when I shampooed my hair with it, my hair which had felt fairly soft before instantly got knotty. I don't know if there is a strong chemical in it that is meant to remove build up of metals or minerals in your water that are known to yellow the hair. But whatever the reason I expected the conditioner to fix that. I would have thought that the conditioner would make my hair soft and manageable again. But I was disappointed to soon find out that no, it did not. In fact it didn't seem to make any difference in the way my hair felt, which is important to me being that my hair might be thick but its very fine, so it makes it even harder to comb through without ripping and pulling half my hair out if its not soft enough after a shower. And using both of them I felt made very little difference in toning down the yellow. For me whatever difference it did make was not worth the way it made my hair feel which was knotty and unmanageable and very dry feeling afterwards. Many people with a different texture of hair may disagree, especially if your a natural blonde. Because if your hair is unprocessed maybe it wouldn't have the same effect. Purple shampoo is supposed to either keep your hair from yellowing or some are meant to help get the yellow out once its already happened. This shampoo did neither. Not only did it not help the brassy prgression of my bleached blonde hair( and girls who bleach you know what I mean), but the Shampoo turned my hair into a giant knot. It felt so ratty and course after I used them. Just awful. My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it...So in that sense I have thick hair. My mother has very thick strands of hair and a lot of it. Hers is like Horse hair. But mine is fine and soft, and naturally wavy. I just thought I would mention my hair type because that may help someone who has hair like mine. My hairdresser/sister recommended I try Kenra bc I have very long, thick hair ( below the waist). I don't want to have to cut it bc its gotten dried out and looks like something a horse would eat! But I'm not rich either! So I bought it and WOW!!! I'm over 55 and my hair looks and feels like it did when I was in my 20's, minus the gray obviously. It's soft, it shines and I'm getting compliments on it again! One woman said that my gray looked like silver, not like kinky gray hair is supposed to look! I love the Kenra products!!! The product works fine and smells good, but my bottle has specks or grains of particles in it. I can feel them when I lather the product. It is disconcerting to rub hard particles of unknown origin in your hair. My conditioner bottle does not have this issue. My hair stylist uses this brand at her salon and I go home with such soft hair. At home though when washing my hair, it feels like straw! So dry and I honestly haven’t noticed a difference in the shade of blonde.

i got this in hopes it would be better than the reformulated kenra clarifying (i loved the formula when it was rose and less so when it was clear/white). this, however, gives my hair the appearance of being greasy even when dried after sleeping over night. i tried not using conditioner in case that was contributing, and it did in fact leave my hair feeling and looking slick and glued to my head. not for me! ... show more

This is the worst conditioner I’ve ever used. It also does nothing for brightening blonde hair. I used the shampoo as well with this. The combination of these was so bad, my stylist actually had to make sure I was taking care of my hair properly. It’s was in such bad shape from what my hair normally is, she was concerned about me.
