  • THE BEST FOLDING BED FRAME EVER!!!
Size: Full
The item is very well packaged and arrived in excellent condition. The instructions and hardware were neatly packaged with the very clear and simple instruction sheet. The other reviews that state the instructions were not easy to follow are either talentless clods, or are inexperienced with following instructions. This bed frame took literally 25 minutes to put together and I had to use NO tools other than a single drill driver with a #2 Phillips bit. I could have easily just used a simple screw driver with no issues. The wood dowels that hold most of the frame parts together are perfectly sized. Each part simply presses into place with just enough tension to stay in place. The design is so well thought out that there are only 10 screws that hold the parts together in the critical points. Once assembled the frame is rock solid, does not squeak, and is perfectly stable. A nice foam or latex mattress fits perfectly and the fitted sheets wrap perfectly around the frame and help keep the mattress in place. It sleeps very well, the only improvement I would suggest is to make the center leg romovable so that the frame cold also lay completely flat on the floor by simply removing the center leg and the end folding supports. This would give the frame a bit more usefulness when being used as an extra bed. But this is just a suggestion that came to Ming after seeing the design and is not a complaint. The wood is Poplar and is well sanded and could be easily stained and sealed or simply waxed or linseed oiled and made completely finished. I will likely just leave it unfinished since it will be just fine as is for my use. It also just happens to be exactly the same height as my couch and thus the bed came be put up and slide right up in front of the couch which becomes the headboard and a bit of extra length for the standard full size frame which I bought. I am supremely pleased and happy with this purchase. And would HIGHLY recommend this frame to anyone. You can't go wrong with this one, as long as you follow the directions and have ANY skills whatsoever in assembling kit style furniture. If your all thumbs and can't even make a sandwich, then perhaps this frame would not be a good choice for you. ... show more

  • Yep, buy it.
Size: Queen
Stylish, easy to assemble, and a great bed so far. This is exactly what I was looking for. Something simple, lightweight, and not ugly. Another reviewer said they were looking for a “minimalist bed” and I think this fits that description nicely. It really turns into a nice solid wood bed with no extraneous or overly complicated components, springs, cloth/slats etc. Very well designed from a non-bed-designers opinion. Folding it up is a little awkward but I intend to do it very rarely. Built it in my living room, folded it up, and moved it to the bedroom where it will stay as my bed. Since there are no lips to hold the mattress in place, you may want to consider some sticky/tacky strips if you want to have the bed in the middle of a wall, easy enough to get. Mine is in the corner against two walls and is fine. Take your time building it and read the instructions... seriously. Open the box up, have some tea, read the instructions, and identify the pieces. Assembly is mostly just pushing in pins or dowels and then pressing the various pieces together. Might take a little work to push some pins in if your hands are soft, keep something like a small rubber mallet or clean shoe to press in the pins fully (I used the end of my screwdriver.) Important: the wood screws are not that hard to get in, you can use a manual/hand screwdriver. You just need to press the screw down into the wood beneath while tightening the screw and it will catch in the wood and begin sink fully. From what I can see, any bad reviews should be ignored. It’s not creaking, it was easy enough for a competent person to put together with only a screwdriver, it feels like a real solid base, and looks great in my room. If something is not fitting/working, it’s almost guaranteed either user error or a part is defective (I’m sure they’d send you the pieces if it was really missing or inoperable, which seems unlikely based on packaging and design.) In one pic, you’ll see I ended up taping down the pins with painters tape. I was imagining that there’s no way they wouldn’t move about a bit and make some noise so took preemptive measures before I put the mattress down. Great bed, good job! ... show more

  • Great quality, thorough instructions, excellent bed frame.
Size: Queen
This bed frame is super impressive! The design is simple, yet extremely well thought out and functional. It folds up perfectly to be stored away and is very sturdy and functions better than a lot of bed frames that don’t do anything cool like fold in half. I love the Nordic style unfinished wood and overall minimalist aesthetic of this bed frame, I purchased it for my guest room and have already recommended it to so many friends and family. The queen tri-fold mattress I purchased for this bed fits perfectly on the bed frame. When not in use, I can stowaway the mattress and bed frame in the guest room and have more space for other activities. I did a lot of research on guest bed solutions, and I’m extremely happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Perfect for my needs
Size: Queen
Needed a simple & reasonably priced bed frame for son's college apartment. Also easy to move, sturdy but not weighing a ton and something basically well-received by other buyers. Read through a bunch of reviews of various offerings but nixed others because of price, looks, flimsiness, difficult disassembly after putting it together once (this was a sticking point for me as I expect my son to be moving in a year or two at this point in his life). The Fold-A-Bed caught my eye and it seemed to cover all of my wish list. Mulled over the decision a little longer but just couldn't find anything wrong with the deal. The delivery was quick and the package compact. Seemed too small to house a queen-sized bed but the seller seems to have thought out the most efficient way to do this. Everything was as described and all parts were there. The wood didn't need sanding (it is untreated and not completely uniform in color - neither of which mattered nor came as a surprise to me). The assembly took me one hour at a leisurely pace. The instructions were clear and the holes lined up. The finished frame looks exactly like the picture and doesn't creak or wobble and one person can fold it. My son is not very heavy (145 lbs) but I'm sure this frame can take a much heavier load without complaining. The frame is certainly very simple and straight-forward so if you are into more of a statement-making bed then keep looking. For me this fit the bill. I suppose one could use a bedskirt to hide the legs/frame but I don't plan on doing that. Don't expect to use the space under the bed for storage unless you have something rather flat (my cats have already tested and found the space to their liking). Glad I chose this bed frame! UPDATE after 1 year of use: My son used this bed for one year in his apartment and today came the day to move out. Slid the futon mattress off, lifted the frame on its side, folded the legs, folded the frame in half and carried to the car (a Honda Element, fit nicely). Not a creak or a wobble or stickiness. Everything looked like it did the day he moved in. Says he has really liked the bed and can't wait to have it in his next apt. The fact that you sleep pretty close to the ground didn't bother him one bit. I must say this has been the best purchase ever and I would whole heartedly recommend this frame whether you need it for everyday or occasional use. ... show more

  • An Excellent Product -- Well Worth Purchasing
Size: Twin XL
This platform bed is an excellent product with one potential problem/issue. It is an excellent design and constructed of quality materials. It arrived intact with all the necessary parts and instructions. Once assembled, it functions well--just as others here have stated. My only complaint/concern was that all eight of the (pre-drilled) screw holes that secure the two finished platforms to the actual bedframe were totally misaligned and barely, and I mean barely, able to penetrate the bedframe below. I thought for certain all eight of these screws would surely split the bedframe's wood. Fortunately, they did not, and, at least for the time being, and seem to be holding the two finished platforms to the bedframe. I have included only one photograph (of the eight screws) that clearly shows how misaligned the pre-drilled holes are (all eight pre-drilled holes are as mis-aligned as the one shown in the photograph). This problem/issue was probably just a fluke, and the manufacturer's "jig" was mis-aligned (an easy fix for them to keep a closer eye on in their final quality control). If these screws cause issues in the future, I will have to remove them, and pre-drill new ones in the appropriate locations. Other than this issue, I highly recommend this bed frame. It is made in the USA, packaged, and shipped well, and is of the highest quality. Just keep in mind that it does sit rather low (only having a 10 inch rise) to the floor. ... show more

  • Exactly the bed I wanted
Size: Queen
Purchased the queen sized version: This was easy to put together-- followed the instructions and everything worked beautifully. I love that the next time we move, I'll be able to fold it up, or take it apart into two pieces and fit it in the car-- it won't require a van or truck. Eventually, I hope to put a thick futon on it, but right now, we just have our crappy old cheap innerspring mattress-- and it's ok. This is the same mattress that, on our old, too-tall, box-spring+metal rail frame bed, was absolutely miserable to sleep on, made my back and shoulders hurt, and sagged horribly. This frame is making that awful mattress tolerable, until we can (o happy day!) replace the mattress too. Things you should know: -This bed is short. This is not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm a short person, and I love it. I never liked climbing *up* into my normal-height bed. Bonus points: because it's low, it makes the room look bigger and less crowded. -The mattress stays put. On our old box-springs, the mattress would sort of creep and slide about, pillows would fall down into the headboard area, etc. Even without a headboard at all, this bed does not have that problem. We park it right up next to the wall, and we haven't lost any pillows yet. -No creaking, squeaking, or other noise. We are married, and we have young kids. This feature is important to us. -You can't actually see much of the bed, once it's all put together with mattress and all, but the wood frame is beautiful. I just like the look of it. -The Queen frame is exactly as wide and as long as a standard Queen sized mattress. There is no mattress overhang, and no frame sticking out. THIS IS FANTASTIC. We used to have a nice sleek modern-looking Ikea platform bed of about the same height. Malm, I think. The mattress was sort of inset into the frame. It was so hard to change the sheets-- you had to heave the mattress up out of its well to do the corners and tuck in blankets. And, worst of all, we were constantly, painfully, whacking our shins on its sharp modern edges. Never again. This frame is perfect. Our shins remain in good condition: no bruises. This is exactly the bed frame I've been wanting for the last ten years. I only regret that it took so long to find it. ... show more

  • Truly amazing craftsmanship and perfect for small spaces!
Size: Twin
This piece of furniture is amazing. It’s a long story, but my family moved to a tiny house, and my husband and I ended up using two standard twins next to each other as a “king” surrogate. I had box springs on the floor and grew worried about the lack of air circulation, so I started to look for something that was low profile and would enable me to put two twins right up next to each other. I just assembled two of these, and they work beautifully for this purpose. First of all, there is no overhang on any of the four sides. The dimensions match my standard-length twin mattress exactly. Secondly, it is extremely well designed. It reminds me of something the Amish might create—so simple yet so elegant and utilitarian. It was actually a pleasure to put together, and I was able to do it easily by myself without my husband here for a second set of hands. I did use an electric drill and a metal hammer to help place the wooden dowels and some other areas. My husband tells me poplar is a good hardwood, and it held up to light hammering, although I’d recommend a rubber mallet if you have that (I don’t). The bed folds up nicely for great storage, and it’s easy to move around. The directions even include tips on how to stain it and an explanation about the coloring and composition of poplar wood. I honestly kept thinking how much nicer this furniture is than my expensive Restoration Hardware furniture, which has a disappointing amount of veneer in it. This solid wood item is beautiful and made me appreciate true craftsmanship. Finally, it’s 100% made in the US of A. How can you beat that? It’s excellent quality, brilliantly designed, very reasonably priced, and it’s American. I will be checking out their other products! ... show more

  • Sturdy, Simple & High Quality
Size: Queen
After countless hours on Wayfair and big box furniture retailers looking at bedframes, I finally found this KD Frame. I was so sick of every frame being crappy, flimsy slats with a fancy looking trim/headboard for $500+. There is none of that nonsense here. This is a quality bedframe constructed from real hardwood, and it's USA made. It is sturdy and holds a LOT of weight. It even folds in half for easy storage, and is fairly lightweight compared to other frames I've had in the past. I am thinking of getting a 2nd one for my spare room, to use as a guest bed when family or friends visit, since it folds up neatly. At $200~ this is a steal. There are no bells or whistles here, but if you like understated and functional then this is the bedframe for you. NOTE: Assembly should really be a two-person job, and I could see it being challenging for an older person since there are lot of pieces. The paper instructions are not great; I finally figured it out after watching the assembly video in the Amazon photos here (although that video is for the twin size; I had to refer back to the paper instructions to make sure I wasn't missing steps for the Queen size. The assembly for twin vs queen had minor differences). Allocate an afternoon and some light swearing to piece this together, but the value is there once you're done. It is fairly low to the ground, so keep that in mind if height is important to you. ... show more
