  • Another great earbud from KZ. Hits above its price point.
Before I dive into these fantastic KZ ZSN Pro earbuds I should preface this review by saying I also own KZ ZST X and Moondrop Starfield (V1) that I am comparing the ZSN Pro to. I also have various options for test equipment that I have used all of the earbuds on: -Fiio BTR5 (via 2.5mm balanced cable) -Schiit Modius DAC + Schiit Magnius Amp (via balanced 4-pin XLR cable) -okcsc SE215-K (Bluetooth Neckband Earbuds Cable, 0.75mm 2pin, APT-X & AAC) (ASIN: B07V7DFB76) After listening to these earbuds for a couple of days my initial impressions were noted down and this review is a summary of those impressions. NOTE: These are all subjective terms for subjective feelings, but these descriptors can be helpful none the less since I am comparing to other earbuds as a relative reference. For those who just want to know, how do they sound? TLDR: These ZSN Pro are more "technical", airy and sparkly. More atmosphere. They are more flat (but not to say they are flat sounding by any means) compared to my ZST X. Whereas the ZST X are more warm and bassy ("bass cannons" at times), definitely somewhat "V" shaped, maybe less refined. Depending what types of music you listen to more will probably help form your decision. For my full initial impressions I felt that the ZSN Pro offers: -Sparkly highs, but not overly bright. -"S" sounds tend to be a little pronounced. -Controlled and tight bass, not boomy. Extends quite deep. -The bass is very excellent for earbuds of this price range and stays in check even on bass heavy tracks, but isn't too recessed on lighter tracks. Well controlled. -Physically they are heavier than the ZST X but lighter than the Moondrop Starfield. -The ZSN Pro is well built feeling. Very nice metal exterior, the surface finish is of high quality. -The ZSN Pro feel like they are in a higher tier than my ZST X for build quality, at the cost of weight (and keeping in mind they are essentially the same price). I also think they will handle daily use, whereas something like my Starfields I worry about damaging their beautiful paint job. -I like the 3.5mm cable, it feels nice, looks nice, however I did not use it as I prefer other cables (balanced for use with my BTR5 and Schiit Magnius) or to use with my Bluetooth neckband from okcsc. As for which I would choose? Well it depends... given my three choices of earbuds, adding these KSN Pro to my lineup I would say that: KSN Pro: These are great all around earbuds. For their price and overall sound I expect these will likely be in my daily rotation and have handled all genres I've thrown at it really well. In a blind test I would not have expected these to be sold for only $23.99 (at the time of this review). They sound much more premium than their price would suggest - way closer to my Moondrop Starvield than the ZST X, in my opinion. ZST X: "Bass cannons" and light weight. I use these when I workout or when I'm out working in my garage. Awesome for electronic, dubstep, EDM, hip-hop, etc. Moondrop Starfield V1: I would pick these for more reference listening given their more neutral response. I would probably pick these for listening to classical, piano, guitar, and rock - while they handle all genres well they are particularly suited for these types of genres. However, keep in mind these cost four times as much and are more of a work of art than something to be used daily. Overall the KZ ZSN Pro is a winner. I love these, and if I lost them today and even with other earbuds at my disposal, I would probably buy the KZ ZSN Pro again. ... show more

  • Kbear Champs!
I've owned.several sets of Kbear earbuds, and all of them are well made and with excellent sound. For under $15.00, the Kbear Phoenix ear buds are crazy-good! When I plugged these into my Foil KK11 radio the first thing I heard was one of the lowest and powerful bass singers I've heard! I wasn't surfing the frequencies looking for gospel stations, but the bass drew me in and immediately and showed me these buds had something special! My surfing the frequencies further, revealing from bass through treble, these buds perform well above their cost. No, these aren't "audiophile" earbuds, but perform like champs in most types of music, audio ebooks and exploring the internet. Kbear Phoenix ear buds come with a non-detachableable cord that appears not to tangle like so many other budget earbuds. This is another great set of buds from Kbear!!! ... show more

  • Super Crisp Sound & Loud
Wow. These are impressive. These perform well beyond what you would expect for their price point. The highs are incredibly crisp, and the bass has some punch. They also play noticeably louder so you will want to turn down the volume of your device when you first use these. The device you use these with matters a lot. I initially tested these with a cheap MP3 player and found the sibilant sounds were somewhat painful to my ears. Switching them out to my computer’s high-end sound card made a huge improvement. There is a tradeoff for the lower price point. These IEM’s have just one balanced armature speaker and one dynamic driver. The balance armature in these seems to be focused more on the highs and less on the Mids. Consequently, these likely going to be best used for hearing voices. These fit snuggly into the ear and feel quite secure. They do a good job blocking out exterior noise. They are heavier than most, but the weight is not an issue. The cord looks like the kind of speaker wire used to connect components. It is substantially thicker than what you typically see for earphones – especially at this level. The drawback though is that they tend to want to curl up. This is more of an issue when you are not using them (as they move away from where you set them down). If you give these as a gift to someone that has never owned IEMs before, it will be helpful to point the recipient to the website as there are no instructions in the box. The IEM’s come disassembled and there are no instructions in the box. ... show more
