I bought the KastKing Spartacus II reel and had that on a different rod. Long story short- my kid adopted the rod and reel combo so I wanted to buy a spare rod and reel to replace the one I had just lost. Ordered a second Spartacus II reel and was going to order the same rod I had the other reel loaded on, but this rod came up in the section that appears after you place an item in the cart so I clicked the link to look it over. After reviewing the specs I decided to give it a go and placed the order. Glad I did, this is a very nice rod. First, the delivery and packaging: This came very well packaged in a heavy duty tube, the rod itself was wrapped in plastic so there is really no way it could get damaged in delivery unless delivered by Godzilla. Excellent job on the packaging and delivery! The rod comes with an extra tip section, which is awesome. I hope KastKing continues to offer this because we all know that sometimes a rod can get damaged and that damage tends to be the tip of the rod so this will certainly come in handy, maybe. I say maybe because this rod is pretty sturdy and the tip bends quite far. The look and feel: This is an amazing looking rod, and with the Spartacus II reel, you can't beat the combo. It has good action and has a good weight, the cork makes this thing super comfortable and adds to the look of the rod. Personally I love the look and feel of cork handles, and this just looks and feels like a super quality rod. Paired with the Spartacus II reel, this a very nice looking and performing combo. My kid saw the rod and reel combo all set up and dubbed it "the Green Arrow". Overall: I recommend giving this a try, I don't think it will disappoint. ... show more

Edited - I have a few KastKing rods and they've held up pretty well - I really appreciate the extra tip because you will break a few so its nice to have a handy replacement - it is responsive, has held up well to some nice sized bass and therefore meets expectations. I'm a budget fisherman and I have a few KastKing rods - Crixus, Spartacus, and Royal Select. Of the three, Crixus is the most brittle but I've lost a few tips on the Spartacus line as well - thank goodness they throw in the second tip, eh? All in all, as a budget brand, KastKing is a viable option but of the three - Royal Select is the best of that bunch with the Spartacus running second, and the Crixus a very distant third. Finally, stay away from their reels - for a few dollars more you can get entry Lews or Abu Garcia which are miles ahead of them. ... show more

Great bargain. Looking for a medium light fishing rod for bass. For $50 was a great price. I didn't understand what 2 tips meant until the package came. There are 2 half shaft rod tips in the box, perfect for those stepped on or door closing incidents. First try out caught a 4 lb bass. the tip is very stiff but you are able use spinner baits or top water lures give it the right action. I liked the 6'9" so much I ordered two of the 6'2" rods also. Kastking has been one of the better budget options for quite some time. This Spartacus line of poles and reels have been great and perform quite well! The price for this specific line of Kastking fishing poles just can’t be beat and even better it comes with a spare tip section, yes the complete upper section not just a tip repair kit! Great rods. Well balanced and have a great flex point to eye alignment to the spine of the rod. I like the hook holder, very solid, great idea to make it part of the reel seat. Great job.

This is a fantastic rod I would recommend buying it!!! The only think I was upset with is that on like the 3 time I used it, I was pulling a fish in and the tip snapped off! But I will say kastking has been amazing and is sending me a new rod for the damage. Thank you!
