Top Amazon Reviews

  • Best overall, all things considered.
Size: 6'0"-Medium - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
1. Shipping tube, super amazing, I don't know how KK can do that at these prices. With graphite, invisible damage can be done especially via lateral concentrated impact. Can look fine until it snaps where hit under load. As another reviewer mentioned, "The mailman couldn't damage it if he tried." 2. Handle grip material. Perfect. Non slip when wet or fish slimed. As another mentioned, easy to clean. Add durable, and aesthetically pleasing. Won't flake dust over the years like some that have a non slip sponge like forming process, the Crixus process is superior. 3. Weight. I've learned the hard way, that fishing all day, cast after cast, takes a toll on your dominant hand, wrist, and arm. Ounces make a difference. Crixus rods are almost my lightest. Lighter and at same price range is my Cadence 6'6" Medium, Fast 2 pc, featuring a "30 ton" blank. But it was about $10 more, and like a precision instrument that I'm constantly concerned about damaging. 4. Guides - but, I like the Crixus guides more than the Cadence. My best guides are on my Perigee II (KastKing from here on Amazon). Those guides are works of art. 5. Stength. No worries, despite featherweight. My largest forces have been pulling myself to where I've been hung, like a tree branch or vine like reeds, or rocks, while in a 13.5' Sea Eagle fast track angler kayak against the wind. No creaking, groaning, nor worry. As far as fish, these will never break unless there's been invisible damage or been/being abused. 6. Quality/Aestetics - these are just the right amount of gorgeous. I don't worry as much, transporting in car. I am *always* concerned to avoid sharp, impact no matter what rod it is, though. So my Cadence goes into my hatchback last. Order of least concern goes like this: Walmart rod of sort, no, it already broke but was under 20 bux, next my Souigyang (sp?) telecsopic), next Shakespeare GX2 Ugly, next my Diawa 1 piece (excellent M-H 1 pc), next my 3 Crixus rods, then my Perigee II, and last to load, my Cadence. Imo, my best looking rods for their minimalist, no flash, finishes are my Crixus and Cadences. For minimalist but can flash due to gloss, with some bit of extra doodling, that is my Perigee II. 5. As far as manufacturing tolerances/consistency I trust whomever KK uses for their *Crixus* rods. Although KastKing's 2-tip option Perigee II rod sections don't appear to seat "...all the way." They seat inward enough, and that is still good enough with 10 or 15% off@checkout. Does not impact function. In fact I just ordered another Perigee II. Plus another Crixus. Because I've become an Amazon junkie. The Crixus series of rods have no flaws, aesthetic nor other. 6. POWER/Action/situational awareness - I am a weekend and spontaneous, is that a pond? Pull over type of guy. Never to be pro, that would ruin the hobby aspect and main reason I fish. Which is to get out, get fresh air, away from screens, get a healthy dose of sunlight, exercise body and distance vision. I do like to catch fish, if I do it's a bonus. Quality at reasonable prices is a philosophy of mine I live daily. Crixus rods I believe are truly as rated. 6' Med Light Fast, true imo. It is my sole Ultralight paired to a 2000 Plueger President and 4 pound monoflouro. 6' Medium Heavy Fast. Yep - it'll do well enough for my bigger baits, frogging. Both bend where they should, and surprisingly, are strong as nails for as lightweight as they are. Super backbones. Sensitivity- upthere! This is crucial for how I fish, which is, few bites quality over quantity. I can feel everything. Stumps, rocks, the slightest of bites. On either med light or med heavy. In this category, from 1st to 3rd, with margins being all the same in actual real world use: Cadence, Perigee II, Crixus. I own 3 Crixus, 2 Perigee II, and one Cadence rod. ... show more

  • Excellent Balance of Power and Sensitivity – Great Rod for the Price!
Size: 6'6"-Medium Heavy - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
After spending several full days on the water with the KastKing Crixus 6’6” Medium Heavy casting rod, I can confidently say it punches well above its price point. Whether you’re a weekend angler or building a versatile rod collection, this one deserves serious consideration. Straight out of the packaging, the rod feels lightweight but sturdy. The IM6 graphite blank is sleek and nicely finished, with clean wraps and solid guide alignment. It’s got a professional look and feel, and the EVA split grip handles add a comfortable, modern touch that really helps during longer outings. I paired this rod with a KastKing Centron baitcasting reel and spooled it with 15 lb fluoro, then took it out for a day at my favorite smallmouth lake. The Medium Heavy power gives plenty of backbone for solid hooksets, but the tip still has enough flexibility to throw a range of lures with decent sensitivity — Texas & Carolina rigs, spinnerbaits, cranks and jerkbaits all felt great! What really impressed me is how well it balances in the hand. Even after hours of casting, I didn’t experience any fatigue. It has the strength to pull fish out of cover, yet enough finesse for more subtle presentations. I even tested it with a 3/8 oz chatterbait and it handled it effortlessly. The stainless steel guides with zirconium oxide rings have held up great — no line friction issues, even after using with braided line. I’ve been semi-rough with it and tossed my gear on it a few times, just to put some pressure on it, and it’s shown ZERO signs of damage. So far, it’s proven to be durable and extremely reliable. At 6’6”, this rod is a great all-around length. It’s long enough for solid casting distance, but still short enough for accurate casts in tighter spots — like under docks or along brush lines. It’s ideal for bass, but I can also see this working well for all freshwater along with some light inshore saltwater fishing. KastKing continues to offer impressive quality at a very affordable price, and the Crixus casting rod is no exception. It’s a dependable workhorse that offers a perfect mix of sensitivity, strength, and comfort. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to beginners and experienced anglers alike. Looking forward to trying other rods in the KastKing lineup. This one has definitely earned a permanent place in my fishing arsenal. LIFETIME CUSTOMER! ... show more

  • Awesome!
Size: 7'0"-Medium - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
This is my first rod from KastKing and it's great. I've been wanting to buy a rod from KastKing for about a year and I always put it on hold. I have several other rods so it's not that I really needed another one. Anyhow, I ended up picking up Crixus and it's fantastic. Got the rod yesterday and I ended up testing it the same day for several hours. It seems to be very well made, attention to detail is there for sure, despite one small spot where rod seems to be scuffed up or something, it's kind blueish spot. No big deal, construction is solid and very sturdy, rod is two piece and comes apart with ease. I paired it with KastKing Speed Deamon reel and, combination works well for me. Rod is very light and comfortable in hand, somehow it had a natural feel to it when I picked it up for the first time, grip is fantastic. I also have to mention how impressed I was with the packaging the rod came in, rod was wrapped in nylon bag with sponge protector on the top, all was placed in heavy cardboard tube. Definitely recommend the rod and the company, I will be buying more for sure. I'm eyeing the telescopic KastKing Blackhawk rod for travel, but I'm not sure I can justify the price of tht rod for just the occasional use, it will be on hold for now. Great purchase and I'm glad I finally got it, it will be easier to purchase another ones 😉. ... show more

  • Good for price
Size: 7'0"-Medium Heavy - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
Seems pretty sturdy for the price, pretty light, only reason it's a 4 star is because the grip is a slightly sticky rubber and not a fan but others might prefer that

  • AMAZING! One of the best fishing rods I’ve ever owned
Size: 6'6"-Medium Heavy - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
This rod blew my mind! I thought it would only work for light freshwater fishing, I was wrong!! I decided to do some saltwater salmon fishing and caught almost 20 salmon in the past 2 months with this rod. One of them was just about 6lbs, the salmon that I was fishing for fight REALLY hard and it did sooo well fighting those fish. The rod was paired with my slx dc with 12lb line. I also did a lot of fresh water fishing with it to. Caught over 10lb of bass in one day with it. Definitely a no brainer to not pick one up. Edit: it finally broke today 🥲. Got snagged salmon fishing and was yanking it back and forth and it broke sadly. Still 5 stars. ... show more

  • Great rod for the price! Great rod for the price!
Size: 6'0"-Medium - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
I wanted a light 6ft rod that I can use for bank fishing largemouth and peacock bass, and this rod is perfect for that. It’s lightweight, has great action, and is very sensitive. As someone who is used to using $200 rods, I’m very impressed with the quality, and performance of this rod. Only time will show its true durability, but so for its held up well. I wouldn’t use it for any inshore fishing, but for smaller game fish, it’s perfect! I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • Sharkskin Handle Literally Disintegrated After Only One Use Sharkskin Handle Literally Disintegrated After Only One Use
Size: 6'6"-Medium Heavy - Fast-2pcs Style: Casting
I bought this as a gift for my Dad. He can’t see very well, so he usually uses broom stick-like rods so he can just horse the fish in. I wanted him to have a lighter rod specifically for the white bass run, so he could cast our lighter rooster tails further than he can with his current rods. He also has knots in his hands, so I thought KastKing’s “Sharkskin Water-Wicking Superpolymer Handles” would be a comfortable option for him. We took it out once on a beautiful day, he caught some white bass, and he really liked his new rod. It flooded right after that and ruined the white bass run, so we didn’t chase white bass again until the next spring. The rod was stored in the garage, along with the rest of our fishing gear. When we went to grab it for the next run, the fancy “Sharkskin”/plastic handle material was falling off. It had, for some reason, pealed more than halfway off, and some of it was completely missing. We left it there, and he used one of my lighter rods instead. The “Sharkskin” on his Crixus has now completely disintegrated. It’s nowhere even to be found. He used it once and it’s been properly stored ever since. The “Sharkskin” is apparently nothing more than a cheap plastic material that’s been glued to a foam handle. I have literally just under 100 rods in the garage and have never had that happen to any of them before. I realize this is a budget friendly rod, but we’ve got several other brands that were even cheaper, that we’ve used and abused, and stored in the same area of the garage for decades, that are still going strong; so it’s not like it gets too hot or cold in there for rod storage. I also have a KK Resolute UL rod that I bought around the same time that I like and haven’t had any issues with, but I won’t be buying any more KK rods again. It’s a shame, because Dad really liked the light weight and cast-ability of this rod. He says he’s just going to use it as is and hope the foam doesn’t do the same thing. According to the warranty information, I could send it back, and if it’s covered, pay to ship it to them, and pay them $20 for return shipping on a repair/replacement. Or if it’s not covered, pay to ship it to them, they’d sell me a new Crixus for 1/2 off, plus pay them the $20 for return shipping. Either way, this rod isn’t worth the hassle or the cost of either of those options, and Dad doesn’t want another one that will probably do the same thing, anyway. It’s just too bad that I didn’t notice the handle sooner so I could have just returned it for something of better quality. ... show more
