I bought two of these to replace a couple of KL130 bulbs, which are very good, but not quite as bright as I wanted. At first I really liked them, the 1000 lumen rating was a noticeable improvement compared to 850. But a few hours later when I threw a toy for my cat, I noticed they have a flickering issue (120hz I'm guessing). Any rapid motion in front of them has a "strobe light" effect. It happens with all colors and brightness levels. Both bulbs are affected, so I don't think it's a fluke. They are otherwise good bulbs if you aren't bothered by that, but I had to go back to the KL130's. I'd rather have the lower output than the strobing. It's odd that the lower-end models don't have this problem at all. Hopefully they'll fix these at some point. ... show more

The light bulb depends on a very poorly made app that does not work at all with iOS 14 due to an bug where it cannot get permission to scan your local network. As a result, none of TP Link’s smart devices can be activated or connected to Wifi. Terrible product!

I used to use bulbs manufactured by a company called LIFX. The problem with those bulbs were they constantly lost connectivity and could not be controlled from the app. I checked, did research and decided to try the Kasa bulbs. The app is more user friendly and I found it easy to set up. Even setting tires went smoothly. Okay, so I’ve said positive things about the bulbs but what not give it a full 5 stars? The negative was the bulbs are not quite bright enough. The LED bulbs put out the equivalent of a 60 watt filament bulb. I’ve found that while the brightness is okay, but not quite enough for my needs. ... show more

I'd gotten one with a Dot; it came in handy for a lamp with no actual wall switch, so got a few more in other rooms. The native app's simple to use; "Auto" (brightness based on time) is nice though being able to customize that would be useful. Alexa (voice or app) doesn't know everything the bulb can do -- it notably can't set the lights to Auto brightness; but you can set it in the native app and it stays through power off/on. And it sometimes can't find the bulbs, though opening the native apps gets them talking again. Aside from the minor cross-app quirks, they're pretty nice so far. ... show more

I originally bought two bulbs to help my plants out and just fell in love with the seamless connectivity and integration with smartthings. My plants are doing well under these lights so I put two in my ceiling fan and one in the hallway. It is so nice to have the lights come on when programed and be able to dim or change the color to something relaxing after work. The kasa app needs to link with the alexa app in order to use it however the two apps work terribly together. As soon as you change one thing about the bulb setting in the alexa app it will no longer work until you reconnect the accounts. Works fine within the kasa app still, and was able to get it voice controlled with siri using shortcuts. However, don't buy this if you're considering using it with alexa. I have been using this bulb for a short time (about a week) and have not had any issues. Pairing was very simple. The colors are bold and the “regular” colors (soft white, white, etc.) provide enough light for my bedroom. This is my first smart bulb purchase so I don’t have much to compare this experience to, but the bulb does what it says it does and it was an easy pairing experience. I felt the light bulb was easy through the Kasa app and then on Alexa. Liked this product better than the other one that I tested - so returning the other and getting more of this brand. Don’t want to have multiple apps for in-home lights, even if Alexa can manage them in groups.
