  • First Chair Badly Damaged .... Second Good Deal for the Money.
Style: Gen 1
From what I could tell this chair has all the features we wanted, especially the removeable arms which are hard to find in a light weight transfer wheelchair. However, we had the same shipping issues that some other buyers had. It arrived TOTALLY crushed, frame bent, arm rests broken and fabric torn. Came in larger box than necessary, NO internal packing or support. What gives with the manufacturer's shipping department? Only the lack of other chairs with removeable arms and the ease of returns made us reorder. We just wrapped the whole thing up in a black leaf bag with duct tape and set it out for UPS to pick up the next day. Sheesh If the next one arrives without damage it looks like it might be a good choice for the infrequent MD appointment, meal out or getting in/out of a small car. Only gave it 3 stars in the beginning because just too damaged to see what we actually had. Did review again because we actually get one that isn't so badly damaged. Updated - 2nd one undamaged. Product pretty much as advertised, lots of loose nuts and bolts though and tight fittings, so get out your WD40 and use the wrench provided. Meets our need for a folding transfer wheelchair with removeable arms and OK for the price. Added another star for features for the cost, but no fifth star because of shipping issues, quality control and very basic design. ... show more

Style: Gen 1
I got this wheelchair for my 93 year old friend. She was dead set against the idea of using a wheelchair. So I bought it and took it to her telling her that it is mine but I would let her borrow it when she needed it. After I showed her all the cool features (i.e., the back folds down and a simple pull on the seat handles collapses it together to be a small footprint, how the footrests can be rotated to each side so that she can sit at the dining table without bumping other peoples' feet, and the armrests that are designed so that she can be pushed comfortably close to the table) she wrote me a check for it. So it is hers now :-) I also got a cushion for it. It's quite comfortable to sit in. She has used it a number of times and is now grateful to have it. ... show more

  • Where is the place to order the correct size???
Style: Gen 1
This is the second Karman transport chair we have bought for our son. It is lightweight and easy to fold so that it easily stows in a car. It is also comfortable enough with the padded armrests and comfy seat and backrest. We also like the side panels on the armrests. It could be a little sturdier. It seems like we are replacing it after only a couple years, however the price is low enough so I suppose that is ok. The problem we have is not with the chair itself but with ordering it thru Amazon. For some reason there is no selection box on this page for the size you want—a 17” seat or a 19” seat. I did not realize this when I ordered and we received the 19” when we really have to have the 17”. It will now cost us $33 to ship it back. We were prepared to reorder in the correct size but I now see it was not my fault after all and we cannot take a chance on receiving the wrong size again so we will look for something else. ... show more

  • Sturdy chair - works great as a desk chair
Style: Gen 1
It is a well-built chair. We are using it in an unconventional manner. My disabled wife needed a low-profile but sturdy desk chair. We don't use the leg supports. I also turned the brakes around and designed and 3D printed longer brake handles that she could reach. That way she can lock the rear wheels when she needs to get out of the chair. The back of the chair is hinged with locking levers - after she is done using it she pushes it back against the desk like a regular chair then folds the back of the chair down and the handles do not stick out from the front of the desk. I knocked off one star because they need to pack the chair a little better. One of the padded arms had a small crack in the support plastic from the box being compressed during shipment. It was not bad enough to warrant the hassle of a replacement but avoidable. Maybe we are a corner case and most make it through the shipping phase OK, but a little more Styrofoam or rolled up cardboard to prevent the box from being compressed around the padded arms would not hurt. Otherwise it gets the job done. I will order another one when our transport chair that stays in the SUV needs to be replaced. ... show more

  • Karman does not stand behind their product
Style: Gen 1
We purchased the Karman lightweight transport lightweight hair for my husband. It was shipped 2/2/21.two weeks later the frame around the arm rest cracked and broke off. I contacted the company and let them know I sent my warranty registration, and their response was that the arm rest was not covered under the warranty. It would cost me $26 to get a new armrest, I let them know that the chair was two weeks old and the armrest should be replaced free of charge. Now they want me to send them a copy of my Invoice. If this chair was not needed to get my husband transported to and from Dr appointments I would send it back. Needless to say I would never use this company for future needed medical products ... show more
