After getting 250 lbs of sand as a hold for the outdoor umbrella stand, I thought the plastic bags would eventually erode so looked for something that would last. I didn't want the sand in the stand as I may want to move it so wanted the sand on top. I found these in my search and thought I'd give it a try. First (and least important really) is they came in blue and my furniture and umbrella are blue. Second, despite my doubts that I could fill them myself (68 yo), I tried. The bags open to the width of the bag. I chose to slide the 50-pound plastic bags of sand in 4 of the sandbags. Then I cut the remaining plastic bag of sand open and separated it into the 4 bags. It took me about 15 minutes from start to finish. The bags have a drawstring with locking slide, so the bags are closed and lay on top of the large black base. While I can't speak to durability as yet, I know it was easy to get the sand in. Will update next year for durability but would definitely order these for ease alone. ... show more

Easily holds a 50lb bag of sand without opening the bag, so the sand stays dry. Only downside is that they only have one strap connecting them to the pole they are supposed to be holding down, and it's at the bottom so it could slip off easily. I bought some straps to go higher, but they keep sliding down, so I'll probably sew them on eventually. ... show more

We have used these for a variety of applications around the house and camping. Mainly to weigh a canopy and a shade sail. We have tried filling the bags with round medium grade stones, and also with bottles of water. They have resisted well so far. The tie belt would be better a few inches higher. We have noticed that being aligned with the bottom isn't the best position for rocky uneven landscapes. We have to elevate the bag with some prop in order to get the leg properly secured to the bag with this belt. To be even a better product, another belt on the top side would complete a great product. ... show more

Today we're looking at KAMPKEEPER's Sand Bags for Canopy Tent. - Build: This product is well-made. This product is made of high-grade (1680-denier) fabric (likely polyester), with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coating. Our inspection did not identify any manufacturer defect with our test product, nor did we find any notable design flaw. We noted that all components are put together seamlessly, with no indication of flimsiness. We assess that this product will last indefinitely in a stable environment with proper care. - Price: At the time of writing, this product is priced comparably to similar products on the market. The canopy weight niche is surprisingly saturated, and we observed comparable products generally coming in at both lower and higher price points. However, this product differentiates itself with its use of high-quality material, performs well for its purpose, and is presented in a nice aesthetic. For these reasons, we consider this a good deal. - Function: Our assessment is that the product works well for its purpose. When I first started using pop up canopies, I was frustrated with how long it took to fill up a sand bag. It really shouldn't be that hard. But zippers and thin tubes are hard to fill. Fast forward to decades later and I was surprised to get a "bag." It's laughable. I was instantly upset by the extreme difference in these vs all my others, but realized this product was exactly what I'd wanted all these years. They're easy to fill, easy to close and easy to use. If you're using the as weights, I suggest putting a 5 gallon bag with twist ties inside that can hold the sand so you can transport them, if needed, without the spills that are inevitable. Bottom line: Would I order again? Yes. Would I gift? I won't rule it out. ... show more

Sure it’s a sandbag, you can use sand. You also can use stone aggregate which might be cheaper and less prone to spillage. You can even use your own stones that you find in your yard. But don’t use fist sized or larger stones because that might stress the bag material. Also, a little known secret is that you don’t have fill the bag for it to be heavy enough to use as a canopy weight. But it is good to know that if you need a canopy up in a severe wind event, you have spare capacity to maybe get through that. ... show more
