This is a delightful design that works exactly as intended. I've been using this on a Ricoh GRIIIx HDF and it is the perfect fit. The stick on ring fits perfectly and unobtrusively on the front of the lens. I use this for a polarizer and it lets me keep the GRIIIx its usual svelte self for most shooting while allowing quick and easy addition of the polarizer. The polarizer on the magnetic attachment is quite small and much more compact than the normal GRIII adapter ring. Note that being magnetic this is really best for filters that you typically only put on the camera occasionally. Of course if you bump it too hard it is going to come off since it is just a magnetic connection. If you want a filter more permanently on the camera then the standard OEM adapter ring would be the better choice, but that makes the GRIIIx much thicker even when turned off. Alternatively, there are some similar designs that also use an adhesive ring attached to the lens but use a twist on and snap attachment for the filter holder instead of a magnet. I've used those on some other compact cameras and they are nice as well. In those cases I did always have at least one filter installed (it was a full spectrum converted camera) and just wanted a way to switch filters quickly and still keep the camera fairly compact when the lens was retracted. In my current use of only occasionally using the polarizer I prefer this magnetic attachment. The process of attaching and removing is even faster and the stick on ring is nearly flush in comparison to the twist snap on designs. ... show more

I was happy to finally find such a kit to add filters to my Sony HX10V point and shoot. Now I can shoot in manual mode for longer exposures of flowing water even on on bright days with an ND filter. And I look forward to less haze in mountain views and better sunny water shots with UV and CPL filters. I purchased the 52 mm version. I'm not sure why others are finding the magnet weak. I find it to hold the adapter and my new filters with a solid click, including a variable ND filter with some more bulk to it. It also easily holds a lens cap and hood (not pictured) that came with my filter set, although I doubt I'll use that much. The magnet is not intended as a strong, permanent mount to enable you to throw the camera in your pocket or a camera bag. Keep the adapter and a filter protected and snap it on when needed. The manufacturer uses a 3M brand adhesive for the mounting ring and this gives me confidence it will stay on. I used alcohol on a cotton tip to prepare the camera surface before applying the ring. I didn't realize that 52, 55, and 58 mm sizes all use the same mounting ring and that all would have fit my camera until I encountered a slight issue. The thickness of my variable ND filter body results in vignetting, so I need to zoom in to just 1.1x to get past the corners getting cut off. In the end, I think this will be fine. And it's probably better for me to have the nice compact 52 mm size rather than bulk up the camera too much. The slim, single filters have no issue. There are so many affordable filter bundles available. I chose one that came with UV, CPL and FDL filters and purchased a single variable ND filter for moving water shots. The Vivitar set of 3 came with a case with one extra spot (perfect for my ND filter and the pouch also fits the MagFilter adapter mounted to one of the filters) The pouch that comes with the MagFilter also can fit the adapter with one filter on it. I considered dropping a star for being a bit pricey, but this product provides a solution I've been searching for to really help improve my shots and the quality is good overall. My newly-acquired RX100 VII is an amazingly powerful, yet pocketable camera. I have though found some issues with video on sunny days. I need ND filters to fix that. A polarizer will also be useful for photos. I saw this system and decided it was the one for me. . The concept is great. You can add a filter to the magnetic holder off the camera and simply snap it on the lens. It reduces the risk of dropping the tiny camera when fiddling with filters. It's a shame it's so expensive or I'd have an adapter for each filter in my bag! This kit is not cheap! . Fitting the adhesive metal ring takes some dexterity. The metal ring sits slightly outside the circumference of the lens body. I viewed the install from the sides with the lens extended to see if the overhang was even all around. Make sure to use some alcohol to clean the end of the lens body before applying the metal ring. I got three rings (ie two spares) in my box. . At 9mm (24mm FFE), there is some noticeable vignetting with a circular polarizer. At 25mm FFE, it's gone, but so too is your wide open f2.8. I'll just edit out the vignette in post when needed. The plain white photos show the difference between 9mm/24 FFE and 10mm/26mm FFE. The sky photo also shows the extent of the vignette at 24mm in a real image. This is with the K&F Concepts 52mm Nano-X narrow CPL filter. Fortunately, I already have this size of filters for another camera. . I was thinking about protecting the RX's built-in lens cover when pocketed, using a filter. However, the magnet, while strong, is easily pushed/pulled off. It stays while on use for sure but not if caught when sliding the camera into a pocket . The little carry bag for the adapter is not much use. It's too tight to have both the adapter and a filter, let alone a couple filters. I won't be using it and will find a filter pouch to hold everything. They should lave that out and reduce the price. . This system is well worth your consideration if your camera doesn't have native filter threads. ... show more

I bought it for a Canon power shot SX 740 HD. IT CAME WITH 2 attachment rings, very thin, fit very well when lens is open and also, when it closes. The adhesive is very good, 3M. The magnetic filter adapter attaches well to the thin ring. I bought it for a 58 mm ND 10000 filter which fit well. I recommend it. Easy to install and it keeps filter in place. I have to remember to avoid banging it as I suspect it will detatch. The magnetic filter adapter seems good for the purpose. Now I hope I make it to the eclipse! ... show more

This adapter works fine with my RX100M7. I had no problems attaching the sticky-backed magnetic ring to the camera, and it didn't come loose over a 3 week trip to Italy (hot), Turkey (hotter), Greece (hot), and Amsterdam. My camera was in my hand, my pocket, and a sling bag. I did not use it as much as I thought I would and this is partly because I work in manual mode, but also because the magnetic grip, which is decent, just isn't going to hold in many situations. It will stay affixed, but a slight bump will knock it off. It did fall off once and almost tumbled down to the lower level of the Rome Colosseum. I could not use it when the camera was attached to my Peak Design Capture Clip on my backpack because with light movement it would have fallen off. I can see why other prefer the Lensmate adapter as it will stay attached in these situations. I didn't go that route because I preferred the low profile ring when the adapters are not in use. Also.. It is difficult to adjust when on the camera because it will spin when trying to dial in the correct STOP, and for quick shots it wasn't very forgiving. I think if you're going to be doing a lot of shooting, as I did, the Lensmate's more secure mount is a better solution, but if you just need an ND here and there, then this works well. Overall, it gets the job done, but it isn't perfect. I think the price is too high for what it is. If it wasn't, I would have purchased two as it would be helpful to have adapters for ND and another for Polarizer or UV to protect the lens from sand and other debris at times. ... show more

    • This Filter System Worked Perfectly

I was recently trying out the Sony rx100 VII and I am primarily a videographer. There is no built in ND system inside the Sony rx100 VII so I needed something to keep my shutter speed down. This filter system did the trick. I use an 82 mm variable ND filter for all my video work. I needed something strong enough to hold that filter and be able to give me the quality I wanted. This system did that and made it super easy when I wanted to remove from the camera. There is a ring that you stick to the camera that works as a magnet. You then take the filter ring and magnetize it to the front of the camera. I was able to pull my filter on and off the camera in less than a second. This allowed me to switch from video to photo so fast. If you have one of these Sony rx100 cameras, you will not be disappointed with using this system. It came with 2 sticky rings so you can attach to 2 different cameras. I would highly recommend this product if you are a videographer like myself. ... show more
