The SummerCart64 flash cart is an open-source, custom-built N64 cartridge designed to support game creation and play on the Nintendo 64 console. It includes a cartridge, 8GB microSD, and a USB microSD adapter. This open-source flash cart for the N64, SummerCart64 offers fast I/O, libdragon compatibility, and a well-documented API, making it ideal for homebrew development on original hardware. Key features include 78 MiB of combined memory (64 MiB SDRAM + 14 MiB flash), supporting ROMs larger than standard N64 cartridges, plus 64DD hardware emulation for direct disk dumps, multi-disk games, and combo titles (cartridge + disk). The cart ensures automatic save backups for all supported game save types, storing data to the microSD or via USB to a PC without needing a reset. The region-free compatibility allows seamless NTSC/PAL switching, with the last used region saved in NVRAM. This cartridge is an absolute dream! Every game I've tried with it works great, wether it be on my OG N64, or the Analogue 3D. Connecting with either system is simple, and fits in the cartridge slots just fine. I've been using a 32gb micro sd card with it. No troubles at all when it comes to loading games or playing the games themselves. My only nitpick so far is that the pulling out the micro sd card is too difficult without tweezers, or something similar. Something that needs to be taken to account when trying to update the firmware, for example. ... show more

    • SummerCart64 a N64 kit that beats the rest in ability, and with a solid warranty to back it.
Kaico has put together a fantastic package here with a worthwhile warranty from what I can see in their terms on this amazing opensource DIY cart many can't just make on their own, myself included, so I went with this. The SummerCart 64 is everything the major competition largely does almost as well, but edges it out in quality of the system menu, tool kit, and presentation and ups it a notch because this is the one that can handle those N64 Disk Drive games natively alone. I like how it works, it does the job better than the everdrive(official) as I had one of the X7s and dumped it. The quaiity build is there, ir runs anything the ED can do just as nicely if not better (faster load), and can do more too with the 64DD being the worthwhile thing to mention. It's easy to open up and service adding a battery for the RTC for Animal Crossing and potentially more for after market creations happening these days. I can not recommend this kit and package maker/warranter (Kaico) more highly to get all you need at a far less exploitative pricing that krikzz does living off a reputation. ... show more

    • Great, but not without a bit of set-up
Great product. Takes a bit of setting up, for sure. Had no clue that the microSD could just be ejected, rather than necessitating taking apart the actual unit to access it. That might have been on me, but it's nearly impossible to remove the card without a pair of tweezers after the initial click. Better than it being loose, anyway. I had to do a bunch of digging outside, such as whether ROMs need to be unzipped to run (they must), and why a saves folder is on the default directory provided by Kaico's site, when another one gets created within the ROMs folder upon booting any game. Also not sure why I was provided box art of just about every N64 game ever released, when there seems to be no way to display it within the menu (probably is, but I need more digging). Regardless, this is a recommendation, for sure. Never owned an EverDrive, probably never will. Been wanting a N64 flashcart for years, this fit the bill perfectly. Transferred my Wii's virtual console saves to an applicable format, and they read flawlessly upon placing them in the saves folder, and retitling them to fit the respective ROM names exactly (.sra files, anyway; had trouble with .eep files, which was not nearly as crucial in my circumstance). ... show more

Excellent value for money; all N64 ROMs play without issue, even those requiring expansion packs. It includes emulators for Game Boy and Game Boy Color that work flawlessly. The SNES emulator needs improvement; there are problems with games like MK and DK.

Exactly as advertised, works great and came with up to date SC64 preloaded. The only complaint I have it is a little tough to remove the micro SD. Extremely narrow space behind it so I usually use tweezers.

    • You Might Not Get The SD Card Reader...
Perfect! It runs every backup I throw at it and games load up quick. However, I did NOT get the USB adapter for the micro SD card. Which is fine given I have a plethora of SD card readers already, but its still something I need to note. The 8GB card it comes with is more than enough to work with.

As a millennial who grew up during the N64 era, the Summercart 64 is a great way to relieve that era of Gaming. Pros: The instructions on the Kaico website to set up the Summercart were pretty straight forward. It can be confusing to beginners or those unfamiliar on how to add ROMs, install the firmware, and update the sc64menu.bin menu. Since I own the entire US n64 library, I was able to put the ROMs into the device. The Summercart is indeed highly customizable. You can add music, background images and more. Cons: Since the device is being sold on Amazon you will need to source your own ROMs. Also the Micro SD on the Summercart can be a hassle to remove in order to add files to it. Because of the form factor of the device and the SD slot. You may need to use tweezers after you eject the card to remove the card. The device works as advertised. It let's me relieve my childhood. I have included pictures of my set up, which includes my stock N64, S-video N64 cable and the Retroscaler2x. ... show more
