Description

The SummerCart64 flash cart is an open-source, custom-built N64 cartridge designed to support game creation and play on the Nintendo 64 console. It includes a cartridge, 8GB microSD, and a USB microSD adapter. This open-source flash cart for the N64, SummerCart64 offers fast I/O, libdragon compatibility, and a well-documented API, making it ideal for homebrew development on original hardware. Key features include 78 MiB of combined memory (64 MiB SDRAM + 14 MiB flash), supporting ROMs larger than standard N64 cartridges, plus 64DD hardware emulation for direct disk dumps, multi-disk games, and combo titles (cartridge + disk). The cart ensures automatic save backups for all supported game save types, storing data to the microSD or via USB to a PC without needing a reset. The region-free compatibility allows seamless NTSC/PAL switching, with the last used region saved in NVRAM. The SummerCart64 also includes direct mode booting to bypass the built-in bootloader, providing complete control from start-up, which is essential for custom development and IPL3 replacement. The N64FlashcartMenu enables intuitive game management directly on the console, and the sc64deployer PC app streamlines project management for developers, making ROM testing efficient and straightforward. Designed with carefully selected components, including the advanced 6TG chip, this product is built for long-term compatibility and seamless firmware updates. Designed for homebrew development, SummerCart64 provides a robust set of developer tools: a PC app for ROM loading and debugging, command-based protocols for USB/N64, a microSD interface, and a fast USB protocol with an 8 KiB buffer for microSD or USB use. It natively supports libdragon, libcart, UNFLoader, and the IS-Viewer 64 debug interface. Fully open source under GNU GPLv3, SummerCart64 invites users to modify and expand its functionality. The SummerCart64 features an N64 cartridge connector, microSD slot (~23.8 MiB/s, up to 2 TB), USB-C, button, and LED. It has 64 MiB SDRAM, 16 MiB QSPI Flash (2 MiB reserved), 8 KiB FPGA buffer, and 64-byte NVRAM. UltraCIC_C enables region switching and 64DD IPL booting. Exactly as advertised, works great and came with up to date SC64 preloaded. The only complaint I have it is a little tough to remove the micro SD. Extremely narrow space behind it so I usually use tweezers.

Excellent value for money; all N64 ROMs play without issue, even those requiring expansion packs. It includes emulators for Game Boy and Game Boy Color that work flawlessly. The SNES emulator needs improvement; there are problems with games like MK and DK.

The Kaico Edition SummerCart64 is amazing as it is compatible with all Analogue 3D and original N64 hardware. It is top notch and works flawlessly once you get everthing set up properly which they guide through instructions on their website. The company was also kind enough to provide a 32GB Micro SD storage card which is plenty of storage capacity for Games and their Save Files.     • SummerCart64 a N64 kit that beats the rest in ability, and with a solid warranty to back it.
Kaico has put together a fantastic package here with a worthwhile warranty from what I can see in their terms on this amazing opensource DIY cart many can't just make on their own, myself included, so I went with this. The SummerCart 64 is everything the major competition largely does almost as well, but edges it out in quality of the system menu, tool kit, and presentation and ups it a notch because this is the one that can handle those N64 Disk Drive games natively alone. I like how it works, it does the job better than the everdrive(official) as I had one of the X7s and dumped it. The quaiity build is there, ir runs anything the ED can do just as nicely if not better (faster load), and can do more too with the 64DD being the worthwhile thing to mention. It's easy to open up and service adding a battery for the RTC for Animal Crossing and potentially more for after market creations happening these days. I can not recommend this kit and package maker/warranter (Kaico) more highly to get all you need at a far less exploitative pricing that krikzz does living off a reputation. ... show more

The product works as intended. Doesn’t come with the N64DD files out of the box, nor does it come with any ROMS like other listings might. If you know what you’re buying, this isn’t an issue. This cartridge appears to be missing functionality to automatically update the firmware. This would be a nice addition considering you’re paying such a premium for this Kaico model. Can’t beat next day shipping, though. Some other issues to note with Summercart itself and not necessarily the listing, are that compatibility with some ROMhacks can be different compared to an Everdrive. Compatibility with some games can also depend on the version of the menu you’re using. If you’re having trouble loading a game, maybe try an older or newer version of the menu. ... show more
