  • Decent stereo, enable the Sound Lift option if it sounds dull and the high end is muffled.
I replaced the stock stereo in my 2008 Sonata with this unit and frankly I think the stock Hyundai head sounded better. The only reason I replaced the factory head was because it lacked Bluetooth functionality and had no inputs for external sources. It had a radio and only played CDs. This head sounds decent but it lacks a clear top end in my opinion, it always sounds a bit muffled no matter the tune I'm playing. This is even after playing with the EQ and "Q" setting which I set on 1.35. It does have a tighter bottom end than my previous head. I'll keep it because I went through the trouble of installing and I don't feel like removing it from my dashboard but the sound quality is decent at best. I'm running the stock speakers that came with my car. Edit: I added a star to my review. So as I mentioned the high end on this stereo was not clear and it was dull sounding, everything sounded a bit hollow or boxy. I had the EQ enabled and the "Q" setting on 1.35. Well, I found the secret adjustment, it was the Sound Lift option under audio settings. It's off by default and I set it to the low setting and ta-da....it sounds great now. It opened everything up and sounds the way it should now. It's obviously and EQ curve and adds some upper mids but it added exactly what the sound was missing. Setting it on mid or high added too much but low is perfect. I have stock front and rear woofers in the doors with two tweeters up front as well. So six speakers total. I was seriously getting ready take this thing out and return it but that one setting fixed everything. I kept my EQ and "Q" settings where they were at and just enabled Sound Lift. Sounds great now. Try it if you're getting the dull boxy sound. ... show more

  • Pretty good radio. Little surprised it doesn't have a mute.
Pretty decent unit for the price. I was surprised there is no mute button. I got the adapter so my steering wheel controls would work. They all work except the mute, I'm sure it's because the unit itself doesn't have a mute function which I find kind of strange. Easy install though, of course it depends on your car. Mine is a 2010 chevy traverse. I bypassed the parking brake wire so you can watch dvd when the car is not in park. I did this because I didn't feel like crawling under the dash to find the parking brake switch. All you do is take the wire that says parking brake coming out of the unit and connect it to any ground, I just attached it to a screw on the side of the unit. This unit does not have gps which is fine as I love my garmin gps. You cannot use your existing factory sirius/xm tuner because there is nowhere to attach it on the unit. You need a separate sirius/xm tuner that does have the special plug on it to go on the back of the unit which means you have to use that magnetic sirius/xm antenna that goes outside the vehicle. All in all I'm satisfied with the unit. ... show more

  • Read the manual
Was easy to install, had a little trouble with USB connection to my Samsung, it worked for 5 min then nothing. In your settings find front only or all, switch to front then to all and it should work fine

  • Almost perfect.
I couldn't connect my Galaxie S10 Android Auto to this unit. If it would have it would have received five stars.

  • Better than the others
This was the third unit I installed in six months. The first was a pioneer. The screen went black in three days. The second was a boss that didn't sound good, reset itself and took forever to boot up so the backup camera was useless. This JVC has great sound no issues and finally meets my expectations! ... show more

  • Wish it had Apple Play
Put this in my son's car. It's a great head unit, lots of features. One I wish it had, but understand why- price point- is Apple Play. One of the reasons I bought it was to hopefully make driving for a relatively inexperienced drive a little simpler so he had bluetooth for phone and music capabilities, and for using with Waze or GPS system. Unfortunately, it won't mirror the screen of the GPS without the Apple Play. Still a very solid unit, would buy again if I didn't want to use the mirroring. ... show more

  • New age type details
Has plenty of features to get the exact sound you are looking for. You can choose which car type you have for better quality (ie: compact, full, SUV, etc) It let's you adjust front, rear, and rear deck/subwoofers all differently. Even with subwoofers, it let's you choose the size and filters. Swipe function works great and volume control allows for buttons or circular swipe. Bluetooth calls are clear but you would just need to find a place to mount the mic, which the cord is long enough to mount just about anywhere. After I install the phone mirror option and back-up camera I will add another review. A1 in my book. ... show more
