  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great budget unit from a Time honored and respected brand
Style: Digital Media Receiver
A good stereo for what it is. Sound is good, the fact that the sound options allow you to optimize based on the vehicle is nice. I have a minivan, and it allows you to customize the sound for that vehicle. If you’re expecting a high end sound, this isn’t a Cadillac. You’re not buying a Bose sound system. But for the money it’s not bad. This is my 3rd JVC unit and this didn’t disappoint. Great unit. Keep in mind: NO CD player. But when all my music is digitized either on an iPod or my iPhone, what is the need? I do have an iPhone 11, and it paired no problem! My old unit was free m 2013 and it was not staying connected so I was prompted to upgrade. Controls are simple, easy to read. Want a budget minded system from a time tested and respected brand? Look no further! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Update: keep in mind 50 watts x4 peak power. And 22x4 normal conditions. Sorry but with 6 speakers in my minivan…. It’s not all that loud. There are times I’d really appreciate more sound amplification. At $120 for this, I’d expect better. The one I bought 10 years ago, another JVC unit, I paid the same and got way more power. Hey, this is still a great stereo for a budget. Even better if you’ve an amp to bump sound up a few notches. But overall had I known this, I’d have looked elsewhere. JVC you actually managed to disappoint me here. SELLER: if you’re reading this, make more clear it’s actual output please. ;) ... show more

  • Truly awful customer service from JVC about getting warranty honored
No complaints about the car stereo, except that it quit working after 11 1/2 months. Spent half an hour trying to find warranty information; ending up emailing JVC and got back a canned email response telling me to send it to a service center. Called JVC to ask if it was under warranty before I spent the money to send it to California, and was told one year. We tested the faceplate on another car with the same unit, and it didn't work so I sent back the faceplate. A week later got an email from the service center with an estimate for repair that was more than I paid for the stereo. After a few more emails back and forth with the service center, it came out that my invoice had one model number on it, and the faceplate had another so the service center couldn't fix it under warranty. Called JVC again and was told that both models were very similar but had the same warranty. A couple of days later got a call from a person at JVC who talked to me like I had an IQ of 50 and kept telling me I had to understand their policies, and by those policies they could not honor the warranty because of the discrepancy in the model number. She told me I had to pull out the rest of the stereo unit, check the model number and see if it was the same as the faceplate. If it was the same, I would have to send that to the service center too, at an additional out-of-pocket cost as well. I would also have to contact the Amazon seller to somehow resolve the difference between the model number on my invoice and the model number on the unit, even though she confirmed both models had the same warranty and that I had sent it to the service center before the warranty expired. She would not make any accommodation at all - told me all this was clearly stated on the JVC website, although I pointed out that it certainly wasn't stated on the Amazon website, and since I didn't buy this from the JVC website I could have no way of knowing that. All in all, between the lack of information on the warranty, the lack of directions on how to obtain service other than providing the address of the service center, spending more than three weeks going back and forth between JVC and the service center, and then being spoken to in a completely condescending manner by someone who is supposed to be a customer service representative and should know better, this has been an intensely frustrating situation already. And now I am faced with jumping through more and bigger hoops with no guarantee that in the end, JVC will honor the warranty for one of their products that I bought in good faith. ... show more

  • Looks && Sounds Good!
I took some time to actually experience the radio before leaving my review. Let me start by saying that the sound quality is nice, very easy to understand the lyrics. I absolutely love the red color as we put it in an old Ford truck that has red interior. The face is nice and the display is clear both in day light and when its dark. This does have a USB slot, an AUX port, and a CD player, so you definitely have many options of what to listen to. I have been able to play Pandora and YouTube using the AUX cord, so that's always a huge plus. The buttons are easy to use, and have a nice space between them so bigger fingers can actually use it to. CD player plays smooth and I haven't had any issues with it skipping, even when we go muddin. The only thing I can say I have seen is that it does freeze sometimes. Like if I am changing the station a lot or something like that, I have noticed it freezing or lagging. Which can be annoying, but it usually only does it for a few seconds then it goes back to running the way it should be. ... show more

  • Decent Single-Din
Style: Digital Media Receiver
This is in my 1989 Mazda Miata NA6 base which had an after market radio from the 90s. Installation was easy. I wanted something with BT streaming. The settings are a little cumbersome which I expected. It's pushing just two 5.25 Kickers and then the pre-outs are going to a single sub. The BT takes a second to connect to my phone but once it's connected I have no problems. Also connects with Pandora, Spotify, etc. I like how it has a USB and audio jack as well. I didn't want anything high end but was still pleased by the quality. ... show more
