The amazingly balanced Jura E8 offers consistently great coffee and specialty drinks at the touch of a button. I was skeptical to order at first due to the price point but I am also a coffee snob who doesn’t mind paying the premium for the best of the best… this investment leaves me nothing but joy. The adapting menu suggests drinks based on your selection history. The ability to customize some of the classics is also a nice touch. Cleaning is super simple with this machine. At the press of a button you can keep this amazing machine in top condition. If you’re considering this and are currently using a French press you will be amazed at the jump in the quality of your coffee when you get that first taste from Jura. I was the first in my friends group to get one and after a few social gatherings and my constant, “Dang, that’s delicious” comments four of my friends have pulled the trigger. 1.5 years later, still runs like a champ. Been following maintenance prompts and using only Jura’s cleaners, bit more cost, but consider the joy of drinking a perfectly brewed JBM daily, you want no problem. My Saeco was showing sign of breaking down any day 3 months ago, we have grown to drink coffee only from fully automated coffee/espresso machine, so picked up this Jura E8 at a super price offered from Amazon. It is the same price range as the Saeco, but except having less stainless steel, it is a better design/build machine. I like it when dumping the coffee grounds they are not watery, and customization could be changed while making coffee. The crema is excellent. Great machine! ... show more

This machine was purchased when my Solis Palazzo finally wore out after 15 years. The machine is fairly easy to use and program. It is self cleaning, so each time you turn it on, it goes through a rinse cycle, and just before shutting down it does another rinse cycle. Since the machine automatically shuts off after a certain amount of time, I end up having mine go through a rinse cycle 4-6 times each day. And as the machine uses water each time, you tend to have to fill up the water receptacle frequently and the water filter only lasts about 2 months, which can be a bit pricey. On top of this you end up having to empty the drip tray, which is long and shallow, making it a bit awkward to maneuver. Also, I found the hardness test difficult to read and determine what to do about setting it on my machine. I felt the instructions were not easy to follow. Because of the frequency of adding water and replacing filters, I placed my review at 4 stars. Otherwise, I would have given it 5. ... show more

    • Great hardware, broken by terrible software and maintenance
Replaced a De'Longhi Machine with this and were hoping for an upgrade. The machines is well built and looks good. Espresso is excellent and Milk system works well although it has the usual high maintenance associated with any Milk system. The big downside of the machine is that maintenance over time becomes a nightmare. It has a number of cleaning and maintenance cycles that trigger at regular intervals, and these can't be skipped even when they are not applicable. For example once the machine wants to descale, there is no way to get it out of this mode. There is no option in the menu, and handling errors, performing resets or skipping isn't mentioned in the manual at all. The result is that you can easily get caught in a state where the machine is unusable or at least no longer shows important maintenance warnings because a specific warning is shown that can't be turned off. Older models appeared to have a factory reset option, but we couldn't find this on our purchase. With a better software, this would be a 5 star product. In it's current state, it is extremely difficult to use in a heavy-use environment over time. ... show more

This machine is a work horse. We make about 3-4 coffee selections each day. The initial set-up was easy to follow per the instructions. Get whole beans you really like/enjoy & you won't be disappointed. The only "cons" are the water filters, which we have to change about every 30-40 days (@about $20 each) & cleaning (tabs) for the machine every 30 days as well. Otherwise daily maintenance which is not cumbersome. My other "con" is the side cup placement for milk (foam) drinks. I wish I had spent the extra $500 approx. for the S8 to have it all integrated into one (middle) nozzle. The TFT screen display is more than adequate for drink selection compared to the S8 (LCD screen). ... show more
