  • Don't know....
Size: 1PCS
I don't know how many stars to give, since it works ok, just NOT like a 0.5 micron. it looks just like a 2.0 micron

  • for ozonating water
Size: 1PCS
I know this aeration stone is marketed for brewing, but I am using it for ozonating water instead. It does work for my purpose and I did not need it to have certain specs that you may need for brewing. It is food safe so that works for me and it does fit my silicone tubing. I ozonate water for gargling. The stainless steel grad on this is 316, which offers excellent resistance to corrosion from ozone. My other stones are round and I use them for soaking feet or sterilizing my dog's eye combs or other gross items. Obviously I would not want to get the aeration stones confused, so this makes it easy for me. ... show more

  • It makes the yeast happy!
Size: 1PCS
Adding oxygen to a batch of homebrewed beer prior to fermentation is important. This aeration stone does the job. Screwing it into a three-way 1/2" NPT tee fitting allows me to oxygenate the wort while I pump it into a fermentation vessel. I knocked off one star because the unit I received appeared to be somewhat dirty upon arrival. A little PBW and a good rinse took most of it off, and it seems to function properly now. (Pro tip: Never EVER touch an aeration stone with your fingers. Hold it by the stem. Your natural body oil will clog the 0.5 (or 2.0) micron pores over time.) This is a decent diffusion stone at a decent price. Brew strong! ... show more

  • Poor Quality Control
Size: 1PCS
These air stones are pretty good but not great. There seems to be some quality control issues. The metal barb is a good example as it is easy to see the lack of uniformity and precision. The performance despite the flaws is pretty good. I would like to see a really good version of this. As it is it only gets an average rating of 3 stars. ... show more

  • Make a QuickCarb for half the money!
Size: 1PCS
I used this stone, along with a cheap transfer pump ($50), to set up a carbonating system for my beer. It was pretty simple. Just get a 1/2" NPT Tee, screw this in into one side, and set up the other two sides with hose adapters. You pump out of the liquid line from the keg, return into the gas side, and run the gas line from the stone to your CO2 tank. You will need to figure out the pressure drop to overcome the stone itself, but that's as easy as dropping the stone into a glass of water and turning up your regulator until it starts to bubble. This IS a very small pore size, 0.5 um compared to Blichmann's 10 um, so using a sanitizer OTHER than StarSan is recommended. I use peracetic acid, and so far it's worked like a charm. Cost me about $75 compared to the Blichmann model which runs $200. ... show more

  • Oxone Oil Bubbler
Size: 1PCS
I am using the Joywayus Aeration Stone to bubble ozone through olive oil to filter ozonites. If you know what that is, great! Apparently, Ozone has minor effects on stainless steel and prolonged use with high concentrations of ozone will break down or corrode these materials beyond usefulness. We will see how long this unit will last, but for now, it is holding up quite well and is way more durable than the glass bubbler I was using when it broke. ... show more

  • worked perfectly!
Size: 1PCS
I added this to my brewing counter flow chilling set up. I was able to push oxygen into my wort as it exited the chiller. I could tell it was injecting O2 as the wort temp would drop as I turned on the tank. Also, the wort foamed up nicely when filling the carboy with the chilled wort. The only issue that I found was that the aeration stone is so large, it uses up a lot of O2 with a single injection. I was making a 5 gallon batch and using the regulator on the O2 tank. I probably should put a finer valve on the input line to the aeration stone to keep the amount smaller and more constant across the wort as it fills the carboy. ... show more

Bought this to help carbonate my homebrew. Works as expected in a Tee and so far hasn't clogged or been a problem cleaning and sanitizing.
