High-gain distortion can magnify noise from guitar pickups, cables, amps, power supplies, daisy chains, or extreme Gain/Volume settings. Test Guitar→JF-17→Amp first with quality cables, moderate knob settings(12 o'clock) and an isolated power supply Is the Boost a volume boost? No. The Boost switch primarily adds high-frequency presence (around 3.5kHz-4.3kHz) and saturation—it's not a pure volume boost. It makes your tone cut through the mix, especially for solos. Start low and adjust to taste. Why does this pedal make so much noise/hiss? The JF-17 is an analog high-gain distortion circuit. Some hiss at extreme settings is normal analog behavior. For the clean results: 1) Use an isolated power supply; 2) Add a noise gate after the pedal; 3) Keep Drive below maximum. What is included, and what should I do if setup checks do not solve the issue? A power adapter and 6F22 9V battery are not included.
