This blind is amazing because it is so easy to install and for me especially because it doesn't have plastic slats that my cats always push through and break. This is a high quality, beautiful blind, fashioned more like a shade with accordion type folds. I also love that there are no strings, or poles to operate them for me to get hung up on things. It opens and closes by pushing it up or pulling it down. It provides the privacy I need in a bedroom window that faces a neighbor's house. It darkens the room that prevents sun glaring in the window in early morning hours. I love the JOYDECO No Tools Cellular Blind and I am so happy I ordered it. Highly Recommend.

I have a 36" opening for my window which I think is really standard, but as of this writing they only offer 35" or 46". I got the 35" figured it would fit. I started by trying to use the friction mounts. The tape on the rubber bumpers doesn't really hold it on in place, but you can just sort of place them as you mount the shade since they will be held in place with force. That said I couldn't get the 35" to quite expand enough to fill the gap of 36". It was barely holding. If my window opening were 1/4" smaller it would have worked. Even then having a 35" in a 36" opening the expansion only happens on one side of the shade, so the left side if flush with the window and there is a 1" gap on the right. If I had a 35" opening it would not have been as pronounced. In the end I screwed in the two supplied bracket and centered the shade and that works. Since this is a 35" in a 36" opening, there is a small gap on the sides that lets some light spill in. For my purposes and my window design this is completely workable. If you want a perfect fit for a 36" opening you will need to find a shade that is 36". That said, overall the ease of install and quality are good for the price. I wish that the brackets in my mounting configuration took two screws instead of one. But overall things are good and I'm getting a second one for the matching window in my living room.

Great functionally with the up or down accordion design. Allows me to open my window for ventilation easily. It came with hardware to allow you to screw it in for installation but I found the no screws compression and then tighten with an internal tightening screw method worked easily and it hasn’t slipped or fallen down now and it’s been up a few days. I didn’t bother to install the handle as it seemed like it would interfere with the shade completely resting on the window sill. It’s easy to raise and lower without the handles and I think looks nicer without them, especially as the handles are clear plastic and would be very visually noticeable on a black shade.

These are very nice blinds, and without these issues, would have been 5 stars: - the adhesive on the provided silicone pads for friction on the ends did not stick at all - had to get my hot glue gun for that. - the top of my blind does not fully close, and can see no way to adjust that either. very obvious on a black out blind. See pictures. - minor, but the 'expansion' part (the bit you tighten with a screwdriver to 'clamp' to the window frame), is on the right side only, so when tightened up, the gap on the right will be noticeably bigger than on the left. Also in picture. They do provide mechanical fasteners (metal clips, like typical blinds), so the offset issue could be avoided by permanently mounting them instead of using the pressure rods, but the main point of these it that it's a 'no screw' mounting...and I don't want to put any more holes in my window frames. Aside from that, these are pretty nice blinds, especially the top down feature (pull tabs for both top and bottom are provided.) Instructions are pretty clear and in a large (full sheet) and color format...

Definitely easy to install! One of the easiest blinds installation we've done. If one of their standard sizes fits your windows, then you're good to go. However, if you're slightly off, either it'll be too big, or you'll get a slightly too small sizing and you won't be able to fully enjoy the blackout effect. Ours was just a smidge too small so we can see light spill in through the edges. For us its not a big deal bc its still mainly blocking out the light. However, there are several main issues we have with this. The top of the blinds themselves, when we have it placed at the top to fully close the blinds, does not fully "close" and light still sneaks through it. If someone didnt know that they pull down, they might think it almost looks broken. This could have easily been fixed with maybe a snap on feature to ensure the weight of the blinds don't pull it down. While that feature may be useful to others, we dont particularly care to use it, so we've screwed in the top to ensure there's no pull on the blinds. The fact that we had to do that took this down one star. 2nd, the material of the shade themselves is almost like card stock paper. At many points of the installation, I was afraid we were going to rip it accidentally. And because its so thin, I dont see this lasting for very long, especially if you are continously pulling and pushing on it to open/close the blinds. I was smart enough to get the black one at least so that it blocks out a good portion of the light coming through the window but that's just on the basis that its black. I dont see the light colored ones doing so well since the material is more paper like. One star off for that. 3rd, this is definitely not worth the price. For the price that they are selling it for, you can get a much better and effective blackout shade than this, albeit it might be a little more frustrating to install. But I'd take a more effective one for the price. Another star off for that. And while I didn't take a star off for it, I will also state that their claim for this to be "sound proof" is laughable. The material is too thin to even consider this to be sound proof. Overall, it does work as blinds and its nice that it can be easily installed. But I would not recommend this for the three main issues above.
