BTU's and square footage are way less than listed. Worked good for a week and then started overheating. I sent it back for a refund. I spent a little more to get a Frigidaire. It has a lower BTU rating than this one but in reality cools more than this one.

Jumping straight in with what I like and what I don't like. What I like: - Runs cold, and works well. Not the best portable AC unit I've ever had but still solid and can cool off a small room quick enough. - Easy setup, took about 10 minutes from out of the box to up and running. The window part was the hardest part here. - Comes with 3 modes AC/Fan/ Dehumidifier which is pretty nice - The remote control works well and is pretty sleek overall. Has all the settings you need. What I don't like: - The wheels (or casters) on this thing are a joke. 2 of them broke while moving them. The plastic that holds them together are so thin...if you have carpet at all these things are done for. Overall: Decent overall AC. Just be careful with the casters. ... show more

    • Freezing Cold Air Comes Out the Small Vent. Very Good, Reliable Remote.

12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner by Joy Pebble Does It Work? Yes. Freezing cold air comes out of the small vent on top. The actual vent under the Louver is on the left, and it’s 2/3 the size of the Louvre. The Manual Very good large Manual. One of the best I’ve ever seen. The print is large and dark. The Remote This Remote is small but very well made, and very reliable. The display on it shows the target temperature only. I wish it showed the room temperature too. It uses two AAA Batteries. It’s easy to change from F to C. And it’s easy to change from Cold to Fan only or Dry, etc… The Display On the one I got, the actual room temp only showed when I turned it off. The Filter It’s so easy to pull out the filter to vacuum it off or wash it off, it’s amazing. Takes one second to pull it out and one second to put it back in. The Wheels This one comes with the wheels already installed on it. I got one two years ago that you had to install the wheels and one was missing. Window Accessories I have seen better. In fact, I have better. This only came with TWO of the Window Seal Boards. You will need FOUR for a large window. The hose and attachment ring seem cheaply made. The Exhaust Duct Hose Width The inside Diameter is 5 1/8" The outside Diameter is 5 7/8" Power Cord This Power Cord is about 6 feet long and very thick (which it needs to be). It has a circuit breaker on the plug (which is a good thing). If it needs an extension cord, ONLY use a THICK one, and feel both plugs often to make sure they are NOT HOT! RECOMMENDATION I highly recommend putting a 20 Amp Outlet in where this will be plugged in, if you’ve done that before*. You don’t have to, but I had an old Portable Air Conditioner plugged into an outlet in the bathroom a couple of years ago to keep the bedroom cool, and that outlet is a bit scorched. * I change outlets all the time. You just need to turn off the circuit breaker for that outlet and install it correctly. Helpful Hint: Plug the Vacuum Cleaner into the outlet you need to turn off. While this AC unit has a lot of great benefits, it also has some major drawbacks that should be considered before purchase. For starters, I’ll talk about what I like first. The unit itself isn’t too heavy, and can be easily moved. It has nice, caster wheels and rolls around easily. Once set up and installed, it can be moved with ease. The unit itself turns on and pumps out nice, cool air almost immediately. I’m using this unit in an attic space as a bedroom, so we had to bring it up 3 flights of stairs to reach this room. Even so, it can be lifted by one relatively strong person, or two people with ease, which made getting it into location a non-issue. Once unboxed, it appears to have all the hardware needed for installation. Unfortunately, this is also where my issues began. The only window in this space is a small storm window. This is why I needed an indoor unit to begin with. The included installation kit is really geared toward a sliding vertical door rather than a window, however. In order to get the vent installed, I needed to physically cut the included divider in half. Without the divider, it left too much of a gap, and with it, it covered the vent hole. It’s a hard piece of plastic, so it cut somewhat easily, so that wasn’t too much of an issue. My only concern with it now is there is no screen between the vent tube and the outside. While the unit is running, I’m sure it’ll be fine, but I have some concerns with birds nesting in the tubing if the AC remains off for too long. So far, that hasn’t been an issue, but some kind of grating or screen wouldn’t go amiss here. The included remote is nice. It sends an IR signal with each press of a button that will reset the unit with whatever the remote is displaying, so it doesn’t desync if you use the front buttons instead of the remote for any reason. Once the unit is powered on, the front flap automatically opens, and it’s supposed to close again on power down. Every now and then, the front flap will remain open, however. This is somewhat rare, but happened at least 4 or 5 times since owning the unit. It isn’t a big deal, as it will usually shut correctly on the next power-down. It does raise concerns with what may happen if the motor eventually dies, though. In this space, power is a limited resource. I have exactly one outlet to power the entire room, and this circuit is shared with the kitchen. While running just this unit itself, it does seem to draw just under the advertised 1200w of power (which is as expected). Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any “power”settings. Perhaps I’m just used to old-school AC units with low/medium/high settings. The only setting available is the fan speed and temperature settings. It doesn’t seem to matter if it’s within a single degree or a 10 degree difference between room temperature and target temperature, as the power draw always seems to be the same while the compressor is active. This has blown the fuse a few times already, but that isn’t uncommon in our household anyway. Still, I’d rather have the option of a lower power consumption if possible just to prevent that from happening going forward. This brings me to the biggest downside of this unit for me: the display. This display is BRIGHT, and ALWAYS on!!! While the unit is off, it displays the room temperature, while all the setting lights are illuminated while active. Most other modern units I’ve used recently have options to disable the display completely if needed. That doesn’t seem to be an option at all with this unit. It has an option to slightly dim the display, but ONLY while it’s on! At night, I need to sleep in a pitch-black room, and that’s impossible with this unit. I ended up covering the display with electrical tape just to prevent it from lighting up the entire room all night! Overall, I can still recommend this unit. It cools well, installs easily (provided you’re installing it in the correct doorframe), and the upsides outweigh the bad for the most part. For my specific use-case, it’s a bit more of a mixed bag. It NEEDS a stealth mode for the display, needs a better installation kit for regular windows, and I have concerns over the front door’s motor.
