The ladder is insecure or defective, some rungs do not secure well, I have to do it twice. So, when I try to get it down it's a nightmare, it goes down so fast it almost crushes my fingers. I returned it and purchased another ladder that use the standard two buttons on the base rungs with cushioning as it collapses so as not to trap your fingers. Pay a little more and keep safe.

This ladder has a velcro strap that holds it safely closed while carrying it. I wasn’t allowed to climb it while I was pregnant but I was able to easily set it up and move it so my husband could do baby stuff. It’s super compact to store. Just slide some sliders for operation. Everything is simple and intuitive. It probably couldn’t be your only household ladder just because there’s situations where there’s nowhere to rest it. Like installing light fixtures in the middle of the room. For quick, easy stuff on or near a wall, it’s perfect. Definitely easier to store than an a frame.

The JOISCOPE 9.5' Aluminum Telescopic Ladder is a niche product. I mean, there are less expensive and more stable ladder solutions readily available, but the JOISCOPE party trick is its form factor. The ladder is about 20"x30"x2", which easily fits into small cars and apartment closets. Being easy and convenient to store or transport is awesome if you are space constrained (15 pounds is also pretty easy to carry around). As you might imagine, the benefits of the JOISCOPE come with some pretty significant drawbacks. First, the ladder is an extension ladder, so it's not going to be useful for changing out light bulbs in your ceiling fixture if it's nowhere near a wall. Second, you can feel that the height of the ladder isn't particularly rigid... you really only notice this when carrying heavy items up the ladder (somewhat aided by the fact that this ladder is only about 9' tall). Finally, $116 isn't particularly cheap for a 9' ladder. The extend/collapse functionality of the ladder is straightforward and easy to use. The main thing to watch for, though, is inadvertently squishing your fingers in the collapsing ladder. The construction and build quality seems okay for the price. In terms of value, a JOISCOPE makes sense if you need the extreme portability of the ladder. If you have room to store (and the ability to transport) a more conventional ladder, that's probably a better choice. This type of ladder is not unique to JOISCOPE, so the natural question would be if there are any significant differences between these telescopic extension ladder designs. Well, having looked at the JOISCOPE and Xtend+Climb models side-by-side, I can confidently say that they're basically the same - despite Xtend+Climb costing NEARLY TWICE AS MUCH. Yeesh. Assuming you need the special properties of the JOISCOPE ladder, this model is a decent example. Conditionally Recommended
