Description

Johnson's 3800 I-beam level was designed to be durable and easy to use - so much so that it has been the standard in the industry for over 30 years. Its heavy duty aluminum frame ensures accuracy and is durable enough to withstand even the roughest jobsite abuse, and that frame is protected by shock absorbing end caps if the level is accidentally dropped. The level also comes equipped with replaceable, durable acrylic vials that are impact resistant along with a top read window allowing the user to stand over the work to view the vials. Nice level. Level and magnetic strip on this level works fantastic. Using this when setting metal fence post in the ground to ensure they are plumb prior to setting the pole in cement. Just place the magnet side against the pole, and it will stay until you remove it. I currently use two levels for quicker evaluation of the position of the pole. ... show more

    • Great tool to have in one’s kit, and good value for the money
This level appears to be manufactured with precision, and to be accurate and sturdy. I used it initially to assist in the relocation of a towel rack in one of my bathrooms that a guest had incorrectly used as grab bar, and pulled out of the wall. The old one had been sloppily or hastily installed anyway, and as a result, was not close to being level. With the aid of this tool, I marked the location for the screw holes 24 inches apart and reinstalled the rack perfectly level. I next used it to install a series of knob pulls on some kitchen cabinet drawers. Although I measured down from the lip of the drawer ends (2 per drawer) using a plastic template, I double checked and adjusted the drill holes very slightly with the level, to allow for the fact that the drawer itself was not perfectly horizontal. This way to the naked eye, the pulls looked perfectly lined up. The 3 foot length was perfect for both of these jobs, and was a size not readily available in retail stores. The level was just as described. I like the black finish, and it really seems like it's put together well. Good brand and a good product. My testing showed it to be square and true. The packaging sucked, with no cushioning, but I complained elsewhere. Hope to have this level for a long time...

I was looking for a decent quality 36" level that wasn't made in China and really didn't want to pay for a Stabila or Sola level. I somehow stumbled across this level that is made in the USA and for $27. It's lightweight aluminum I-beam body makes it very light and the magnetic is strong enough to hold itself to any ferrous metal. The vials are easy to read. I recommend this level who wants a quality level and doesn't like supporting slave labor in China. ... show more

I purchased the level for the purpose of installing a 30 in. safety/grab bar horizontally in a shower stall that is too small to use my 48 in. level. For this purpose it worked perfectly. I found the magnetic function to be only "mildly" magnetic IMO.

Good low priced 8 foot level The good: It's cheap. You can read the levels from the top. The bad: It is straight, but easily bends.The magnetic strip is basically the same thing as they use to stick stuff to your refrigerator, which makes using the magnetic side of the level iffy as far as flatness is concerned, but just happens to be the side the level has to sit on to read the two top bubbles. When using this side on metal, it will suck down the level to whatever contour (within reason) it is attached to, and make the other (non magnetic) side follow suit.
