This pomade has an amazing scent, which makes you want to slay terrorists. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a dust storm or jumping out of a C-130, this pomade will hold. Stronger than Rudy Reyes (likely not), but this is still freakin’ strong.

Just what I was looking for. My hair is kind of wavy, so I typically need something with a decent hold. Their oil based pomade (omega) is my go to, and happens to hold my hair how I like it most of the time. But come summer, the heat really weakens the hold, and I had little curls hanging everywhere. Some guys can pull that semi-disheveled look off, I prefer the neat professional look. I’d opt for the clay when the weather got hot, but it was on the pricy side and I couldn’t justify the price. That’s where the water based pomade came in. Great strong hold, without damaging my hair, making it dry, or leaving residue. Best part, it holds all day no issue. It says it’s a high shine product, but I’d argue it’s a moderate shine without looking greasy, just the way I like it. Somewhere in between the clay and oil. Keep in mind that the product does build up a little over time, so you’ll need to wash your hair thoroughly. Not an issue since it means you’ll need less product overall, and it’s water based so washing it out isn’t too bad. Hope Nick and Johnny don’t change this formula too much, they hit a home run with it.

I have thicker curly/wavey hair. I usually go for strong hold pomades to keep my hair from sticking out everywhere. This one would work for people with not as thick hair. I like the scent of the original. Feels great on my hair but it doesn’t hold as much as I’d like it to. It’ll look good when I first apply in the morning but by the time I get to the car my hair starts sticking up. I’ll still use it all up but will probably look for a different one. Good product but not for me.

First time trying this pomade… I have tried lots of different brands in the past. I have been very happy with another brand (uppercut) but I needed a pomade that I could restyle on the go with just my hands. The hold on Johnny Slicks Water Based is not stiff or crusty… it just holds hair in place. The scent is wonderful and not a high glossy look. This is now my go to product when filming. I also love that this has natural ingredients for hair health. Will definitely be ordering more of their products.

I originally was fully on board with Johnny slicks, i used the shampoo, conditioner, and all the styling products for months and thought all was well until i went to a salon for a haircut and the barber informed me of extreme buildup of product in my scalp and hair. The water based pomade isn't water based at all, as water based means water is the base ingredient and water isn't even on the label, and it isn't water soluble at all, every one of their products cause buildup which actually leads to more hair loss as the wax stops new hair from growing properly on the scalp from clogging the pores. The shampoo and conditioner doesn't properly clean the hair and scalp at all which exasperates the issue of the product building up while you use the styling products. It was a horrible, humiliating, and scary experience of how much buildup the products caused, i spent thousands on Johnny slicks and i felt almost betrayed and wish i could get my money back. The whole organic thing is over hyped and just a marketing strategy to charge more for products and get people to spend money, hair loss is caused from hormones, stress, and genetics, there's no scientific evidence that hair styling products cause hair loss. I actually lost way more hair while using johnny slicks than i ever have before, and thought something might be wrong with me, but no it was absolutely the products. After my experience at the hair salon, I'll never use Johnny slicks again, and would never advise anybody to use them.

My husband uses it. Been about 7 months and he prefers this over anything else! We left Men’s Dove for this. It’s a bit pricey but it lasts him 3 months and he does his hair 85% off the week. (Breaks a day or two in between ) Not sticky, doesn’t leave a white residue and it keeps your hair in place all day and night. It lasts a 10 hour shift. It smells so good too! Probably one of the best pomades I’ve smelled as a wife. And our opinion matters most ;) Truly great! Buy it and you’ll love it.

…but I can’t say I like the scent. I know buying online is a risk, but i was hopeful that the scent would be pleasant considering its natural ingredient list. I admittedly am exceptionally sensitive to fragrance and think it’s too strongly scented … other customers would probably like it though. But my husband seems to like the product.
