What Chinese garbage....with a proud "made in America" stamp. I certainly did not expect commercial quality and bought the spreader because the Scott's version wheel made of plastic literally fell apart after 6 uses on a 1/2 acre lot. The only positive are the wheels. They are actually as expected. The rest is plastic wing nuts, missing washers and cutter pins (which I have extras of course) and a thin plastic tub that might be 5 gallons...but I doubt it. Time to buy commercial grade when this explodes in a year....but the "reputational risk" JD took will lose me on buying any more of theyre products. Update.....after initial use I can tell you without reservations thisbis garbage. Rear metal prop stand needs to be removed when operating unless your lawn is perfectly flat and no pitch ..otherwise you need to tilt back at least 10 degrees. Spreader....unlike the Scotts...which I had and broke since it is cheap too....has no way to turn off feed supply without removing one hand from the handle. As much as I grew up around John Deere and thought they had a great brand I WILL NEVER BUY FROM DEERE because they have lowered their standards to make such a poor quality product you might ask if I buy a 12k lawnmower what cheap parts are in that? ... show more

Much better than my old spreader. This one has metal wheels with inflatable tires. It should last longer than the old spreader which had plastic wheels that basically disintegrated. I

    • One flaw, but I would still buy it
This unit is nice, but it does not prevent the Max setting device from moving. But I do like the way it rolls and how it is controllable through the yard. He would be nice to have a grid to prevent the larger clumps from passing through.

    • Poor Quality and Shocking!
Do not consider! Unbelievably poor quality which shocks me from John Deere! Handle is flimsy, very top heavy with loaded product, feels like it will fall forward and spill load at any time. And to top it off the spreader throws the product backwards onto and literally into your shoes!

The equipment is far from the expected quality of John Deere. Really poor quality. The controls do not really work. I will use my old Scott’s spreader.

    • Overpriced...
Expected more from John Deere. The quality of this push spreader fell a bit short. Assembly was very easy, but noticed that there was no spray pattern deflector. Had to make one out of a piece of cardboard in order not to spray product all across the driveway and sidewalks. The lever to control the flow of product was adequate. Overall, it'll do the job, but the price point is high for what your ultimately are getting in return. ... show more
