  • Solid Construction, Solid Design. Winner!
Size: GorillaPod Kit Style: GorillaPod Focus Kit
I've had my eye on this tripod for quite some time now and I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy it because I wanted a nice tripod for vacation. Let me just say, this thing is SOLID and built like a tank. This is exactly what I was looking for in a tripod. I have a Canon T5i and it handles it just fine. Can't wait to see how many different positions I can get my camera into. UPDATE: 5/10/2016 I've had, and greatly enjoyed this tripod for four months now but tonight I was going over my gear and straightened one of the legs out and all of a sudden, one fell off. I wasn't doing anything to hyper extend the tripod or anything. I was completely caught off guard because for something this expensive and what seemed well built to just loose a leg seems a bit odd. I'm just glad this happened while I was going over my gear and NOT while it was strapped to something. So be aware! Not sure if I will be getting another one of these or not. UPDATE: 5/14/2016 I contacted Joby after it broke and they responded right away the next day with details on how to get a replacement, I assume it helps that it was still under warranty. Well, its been three days since, and I got a nice looking package in the mail. I adjusted back to five stars because even though this happened, they were more than accommodating to their customers. This is a company I can stand behind! Thank you Joby! ... show more

  • WAS a great product until I damaged my camera and the legs broke off
Size: GorillaPod Kit Style: GorillaPod Focus Kit
I'd like to start my review by saying that I had declared this the greatest camera accessory that I had purchased. Despite reading the bad reviews, I took the chance and bought it, keeping in mind the tips on how to minimize the "abuse" that the tripod might go through... but then two legs came off and my camera took a dive off of the "tight" mounting plate. For four days, I mounted the GorillaPod on trees, railings that overlooked mountains (Squamish, BC), bridges, and a bike. And for four days, the GorillaPod worked like a dream. It hung on solidly and there was not a bit of shake to speak of. The workflow was always the same: 1) Check the plate knob to make sure it was tight; 2) Carefully adjust the legs around the mounting point, being mindful of not applying too much stress at the point where the legs connect to the ballhead; 3) Adjusting the ballhead for the shot; 4) Carefully removing the legs from the mounting point, being mindful of not applying too much stress at the point where the legs connect to the ballhead. But on the last day of my trip, and the reason for this one star review, is that two of the legs came off and the plate failed on me. Despite the plate being double checked for tightness, I bumped the camera with my knee and the camera fell a good 5 feet onto concrete. There are scratches to the eyepiece rubber which makes using the Sony's EVF uncomfortable/painful, and the camera will fail to start up once every few times (black screen). I can no longer trust the camera to be ready for quick pics anymore. Lastly, as mentioned above, two of the legs came off. I was able to "re-attach" one of the legs, but a few minutes later when going back to adjust the leg, it popped back out again. I could not reattach the second leg as it looked like a part of the plastic had become grooved (the attached picture should be able to explain it better). Even if I could reattach the second leg, needless to say, I no longer trust the stability and durability of the tripod. Maybe I got a bad one, but my 600$ camera already took a spill... I am not willing to try it again on my DSLR. All in all, it was a shame that this product failed to do what it was supposed to do. I very much wanted to like this product and for the first four days, I loved it. Use at your own risk. ... show more

  • Collapses under the weight of my Canon 70D Useless.
Size: GorillaPod Kit Style: GorillaPod Focus Kit
At $100 dollars you do not get what you pay for. This is suppose to be the most durable and strongest flex pod of them all.... Well after a a few uses I noticed the legs were already worn out and 50% as strong as they were new. During this time I was using a lighter camera and primary setting the gorillapod on my desk (not outside or any extreme use). I just recently bought a Canon 70d and this item is now useless. The gorillapod collapses under the Canon's weight. This item was marketed and listed as being able to support a camera like a Canon 70d. There's nothing special about this item, its the same concept as any 10 dollar flex tripod, but with a stronger connecting point for your camera to attach. The issue is this is not a reliable tri-pod for anything over a few pounds. It will collapse after a few minutes. ... show more

Size: GorillaPod Kit Style: GorillaPod Focus Kit
So far so good. I was a little weary since many reviews spoke of the legs dropping off after manipulation...so far I've not had that problem. The item I received was brand new with no signs of use. So far I've manipulated the legs and they are stiff enough to hold up my camera without any issues. The tripod holds up my A6500 mirrorless with smallrig cage easily. The ball mount does not budge after tightening. the panning motion of the ball mount is nice and smooth. The quick release plate has a nice feature that will allow the plate to slide left/right but not fall off. In the end, if you've looked up this tripod you know it's capabilities. I guess I lucked out and got one that isn't a lemon....hopefully mine will hold up for a few years before the legs start weakening. If yours is weakening, I found a neat trick to help....buy "heat shrink" tubes and the legs will be as good as new. Will update my review if my legs start falling off....but so far it's held up as one would expect. ... show more

  • Works great with as full size DSLR and lens.
Size: Leg Only Style: GorillaPod 5K Stand
This will for sure hold up my Canon 6D Mark II. My previous GorillaPod was one step smaller and had a hard time staying put, but this one works great. Using it with a $20 Benro ballhead I already have as opposed to buying the full kit.

  • This Is A Great Tripod- Be Sure You Get This One, Not The Cheaper One
Size: Leg Only Style: GorillaPod Focus Stand
I love this tripod. Be sure to get the ball head, so you can level your camera. Important advice: I purchased the cheaper, smaller version of this tripod and I did not like it. It was too light and flimsy to support my Panasonic GH-4 and Panasonic WXF-991. So, spend the extra money and get this tripod, not the cheaper one. It is a great product. ... show more
