  • Big improvement on the old model!
I use this device primarily as a stand for viewing my phone. The previous model contained a fatal flaw. It used a ball and socket setup where you connect the camera or phone and the socket would crack, often within a very short amount of time. Once this happened, the device wasn't terribly useful any longer. They have corrected that issue with this updated model and it's a nice improvement. ... show more

  • Works Great with G7X
I bought this to go with my Canon PowerShot G7X Mark II. It's just the right size. No problem with stability or rigidity, even though this camera is right at the upper limit of weight capacity for this tripod (the G7X weighs 319 grams with battery and memory card). It was not evident until I received it how the ball head would work. Normally, a ball head has some kind manual lock and release, but I couldn't see anything like that in the pictures. Once receiving the tripod, I could see that it relies only on friction. In hindsight, this makes perfect sense, since the legs are made up of ball joints held in place with friction. Anyway, it is easy to use, and sturdy enough for my camera. I look forward to using it in the field. ... show more

  • VERY SMALL
I did not realize this was like the mini version. I was looking for the larger one. This one is more of a kid-friendly size.

  • Dumb design with ball head - does not fix in place
Let's face it, these "specs" for camera weight supported are grossly understated and you no doubt will be using with a heavier camera than it states it allows. Even so, this is a dumb design, even if you stick to the featherweight limits it claims to support. This is a "ball head" type design, which would be great, and it even LOOKS like you can tighten the head by turning the top ring under the head, but you can't! That means the camera is attached to a moveable ball head and supported ONLY by its innate friction resistance - and you know what's going to happen with that! After constant moving, any ball-in-socket design will weaken, and the camera won't hold its position. While this did not happen to me - yet - there is no way that a plastic-on-plastic ball and socket mechanism with no lock will not weaken over time with use. A simple tightening mechanism of the ring would insure that it will never happen. Also, tightening it to the bottom of your camera is problematic since you can’t get a tight fit because as soon as you meet resistance, the ball head starts turning - because you can’t lock it. Also, this means that trying to set the camera precisely is a bit of a jerky operation, not smooth at all as it would be if you could release the socket grip on the ball, adjust the camera and then tighten. Too bad. It looked like a great design - the image sure looked like you could tighten it - but you can't. Otherwise, these Joby products are well-made and durable. I've used a much larger one with a SLR for many years, no problem and would recommend Joby in general, but I'm disappointed with this model's design. ... show more

  • great tripod
This was a great but I have not really used it. I have put the camera on it and have hung it around the house and it seems really sturdy and stays in place. Very bendable. I really like this product.

  • Poor quality and worse customer service
The tripod worked fine for the 6 or 7 times I used it, but one of the balls broke and it is now useless. Joby wouldn’t replace or help me in any way because is was just a few months out of warranty. Bad build quality and bad customer service.

  • Great for my Canon T5i
This supports my Canon T5i by itself and an additional light using the hotshoe. It doesn't feel like it's unstable or that it'll slip. I'm sure the next size Joby would feel even more secure, but I've had no movement or slipping from it, and it probably weighs a lot.
