These ammonia tests do not work AT ALL. I purchased these to monitor a new tank I'm cycling. I'm using Dr. Tim's ammonium chloride to start a fishless cycle. I tested the water before adding any ammonia and the reading was 0, as expected. Added ammonia and tested again. Still 0... Strange. Now I got suspicious, so I took a strip and dipped it directly into the bottle of ammonium chloride. The reading was still 0! No color change at all (yes I followed the directions completely). Ridiculous. Irritated because how am I supposed to track my tank? Will attempt to return.

I have never had a problem with these strips. As far as I have seen, they are accurate. They should be an essential part of a fishkeepers inventory, and the 50 strips included mean that they last a while. They are easy to read and easy to use. They work great.

It does the job, but you do have to wait 3 minutes to read the tests. Seems pretty accurate to me. Easy to use, literally just dip for 5 seconds then plop out & wait. This is one of the cheapest ways to go when doing water readings.

I read the reviews on this product. Most were good. Some weren’t. So I bought the JNW direct 9 in 1 test strips and the JNW ammonia strips . The 9 in 1 nitrates and nitrites don’t work. It read zero. My Tetra strips showed 20 ppm nitrates. I’m reordering the Tetra tests strips and returning the JNR. The JNW ammonia didn’t work either, even when I allowed one of my poor dead fish to remain in a small container over night— it read zero ammonia!
