  • It works, but has some flaws.. Fixable at least.
Lets start off with, it works, it's the proper size and should be able to handle a smallish switch or two and a port bar. So it's fine. It also doesn't need to be put together, it just folds out, which was a pleasant surprise. Now the flaws.. 1) the "hinges" are tiny aluminum rivets, this is a weak point. If your going to put much on this, you'll have to replace those with screws or something. Easy to do, so no big deal, for me, I'm only running a port bar and a smallish switch, which will add plenty of strength, so it's fine 2) this has the normal square rack mount slots... on the side.... I have to admit that i don't know why 3) the screw holes on the front were tapped prior to powder coating, so you have to use a bit of force on the screws. This quickly cleans up, so it's not a big deal, but i'd rather have had them put the square holes on the front and not bother with anything like that on the side so i could use the normal rack nuts. As a mitigating factor of #3, it comes with screws that fit the holes well and they are sturdy enough that they wont' strip out while you you force the first few threads though until the powered coating comes off the tapped threads of the unit. OVERALL--- While some of their choices are a bit of a head-scratcher, the price and design are very good. If i replace the silly little rivets with screws or better rivets, it easily beats out other units until you get to a much higher price point, and at that point the design is VERY strong and can probably hold more than anything less than twice the price, and will stand nicely on rubber feet wherever you put it. I'm almost happy that it's got these silly "features" as they could could easily charge much more and still be competitively priced with minor changes. So I'll happily save a bunch of money, and go with this one. Honestly, i can see myself ordering this for customers, with the plan to replace the rivets, as it's a GREAT deal and a great unit once that's done and your items are screwed into it. For this reason, i give it 4 stars overall. ... show more

  • Sturdy network rack
The folding factor is very nice, but wasn't sure of sturdiness in initial opening. Once I installed it into the rafters it held up to what I wanted to do. I originally got this to set up a home network in my basement, it works as it should but I found that I needed something bigger.

  • Let me "rack mount" without a rack
I keep my gear stacked on a shelf, but with this I was able to "mount" them together without a proper rack. Helps keep things a little more tidy if I do say so!

  • Great alternate rack
I have a small rack built into my music studio desk and needed something to hold a few components. This is perfect. It's a small foot print and once you've got components screwed in, it feels a lot more solid.

  • Great for small rack gear
The rivets that hold the swing-out legs aren't going to let you put a 4U GPU server on here, BUT having it collapsible without any tools is nice. I really like the square holes on the sides for adding half-width gear along the sides, so you can fit a little more than just 4U worth of gear. I'm not the biggest fan of pre-threadded holes for the 4 main section, even if the screws are included. While I haven't stripped any screws yet on this particular rack, I've had other racks previously where once a hole strips, the whole U can become unusable for some gear. Using this to hold a switch, patch panel and some raspberry Pis. ... show more

  • Collapsible -- without tools!
It's not clear from the description, but this rack actually FOLDS into a flat piece. This makes it perfect for (for example) using it as a temporary work rack, where you need to rackmount a patch bay or other gear, work on it or wire it, and then later transfer it to a permanent rack. Since this rack folds, it takes up almost no space. And yet, when unfolded, provides a very solid rack space! ... show more

  • Good stand-alone 4U rack
I was looking for something smaller that I could use in my home networking closet and this fits the bill as a stand-alone rack mount. It would've been nice if it could attach to the top of a shelf and hang, but it will work fine as designed. It does include the bolts and is a simple fold-out design to setup. Not a bad option for those not needing a full-height rack solution. 4.5/5 ... show more
