Great head unit for a decent price.

The stereo works well, the controls don't have excessive lag and the sound quality is good. The rearview camera works well and the image is usually pretty clear, the only time I have issues is when the sun is hitting at a bad angle. Most head units will have that problem though. It's a great value and unless you're an audiophile you'll likely be satisfied.

Great Value
Style: 7” Double Din Stereo + Backup Camera
I wanted to upgrade to a more modern stereo in my 29 year old truck. I did not want to spend a lot of money. The main features I wanted were Bluetooth and Android Auto. You need a mounting kit to install the stereo. In my case, I was able to buy a new dash trim that included the mounting kit which meant I didn't have to modify my existing dash to make the stereo fit. I installed it myself. The biggest challenge is wiring in the new wire harness, but mostly you just have to match the colors. I recommend taking lot's of photos of the old set-up before you remove the old stereo so you can see how the old stereo was wired. This helped me with one of the wires I was not clear on how to connect. After installation, I used the USB wire to connect to Android Auto. I was really disappointed that it does not connect via Bluetooth. Initially, the Android Auto did not work. I was using a "known good" aftermarket cord. So, I reached out to Jensen for support through their website. Before I heard back from them the next day, I decided to try a different cable that came with my phone and Android Auto started working. Overall very happy with my purchase. It is a nice upgrade for my old truck.

The disappointments just keep coming...

I've owned several Jensen products over the years and have always been satisfied, until now. The installation was uneventful and basic features work well. When I installed the backup camera in the only available location on my truck, the image is upside down. No problem, right? Just go into the settings menu and invert the image like the other entry level stereos in my other cars. Nope- no option for that. Okay, buy a different camera that can be flipped in the mount for an additional $25. Fired up the Samsung and connected to the radio fairly easily. Received a call and the other party could not hear me unless I was yelling, even though the microphone is in close proximity to my head. Once again, the other entry level receivers have menu settings for noise cancellation, in-call speaker volume, and microphone gain. Not this one. So, I'm still using the phone's built in speakerphone. Finally, I tried using Android Auto and screen mirroring for Google Maps. Even though my phone is up to date, the receiver refuses to connect because it thinks my phone's OS is out of date. One of the generic $60 wireless touchscreen devices that plays through the original radio would have been a better investment.

Meh, ok for upgrade but not terrific, ok price to value

So, this head unit is not garbage but I probably would not buy it again nor recommend it to anyone that has experience with mid grade or higher equipment. The two biggest gripes I have are: the extremely poor microphone signal processing, and the inability to do wireless Android CP or Apple. The microphone (not hardware because I tried a very expensive microphone as well as the one it came with) is a joke. The other side of the conversation can hardly hear you despite all modification, placement, and setting adjustment that is available. I truly do not get why they would do this. I saw other reviews saying the same, but I hoped they were flakes. It doesn't appear that is the case. The Bluetooth works ok, but is a tad bit "clunky" to operate. Not the worst I have seen though. I am pretty sure the output is modified though, so be prepared to turn your volume up and down if switching around. Also, you have to connect, and then switch to Bluetooth every time you start the vehicle. That is annoying but something I half expected with a lower cost unit. My nicer heads do not do this if just starting. Overall, I would recommend this as a factory upgrade, or a budget head for a system that has higher quality components everywhere else. If you know, you know... a head doesn't matter nearly as much if you have the right equipment and experience tuning.

Decent value, definite upgrade from her previous radio

I’m definitely going to keep it, however there are things that could have made it better. The time was so hard and frustrating to update. The screen was terrible for that part. It is great for normal song and maps adjustments. Connects well via cord or Bluetooth. I wish the wire connectivity option wasn’t just on the back because my and my kid’s phones need different cords. It does look nice in her car and has good sound quality. If you’ve ever installed a radio though, just know it was as confusing as any other radio to know which of the two wires, both same color, should be used. Luckily my husband is better at that stuff than me, so he got it figured out.
