I bought this to plane some treated wood borders around my patio. Some of the boards were at least 1/2" above the papers. This unit did the job and never missed a beat. I do recommend using a shop vac with it because the vac bag will clog it up very quickly.

When I opened it and took it out of the box, I noticed that there was s lot of wood dust on the unit. Do they test these at the factory? Anyway. It works well and I'm happy with it.
