Description

For nearly 50 years, Jeffers has been a trusted name in animal care. Founded in 1975 by Dr. Keith Jeffers, PhD, in the basement of his ranch home, the journey began with a mission to help local livestock owners find reliable and affordable supplies. Today, Jeffers proudly continues that legacy—offering pet, equine, and livestock products with the same care, dedication, and value that have defined us for five decades. What makes a wool saddle pad better than synthetic pads? Wool naturally breathes, wicks moisture, and helps regulate temperature. It also conforms to your horse’s back over time, providing consistent cushioning and support. Is this saddle pad good for long rides or training sessions? Yes. The pressed wool felt helps absorb impact and reduce pressure, making it a great choice for trail rides, schooling, and extended time in the saddle. Does the pad hold its shape after repeated use? The dense wool felt is designed to resist compression, helping the pad maintain its thickness and performance with regular riding. Will this pad help keep my horse cooler? Wool fibers naturally allow airflow and help move moisture away from the horse’s back, which supports temperature regulation during rides. What thickness should I choose — 3/4" or 1"? The 3/4" option works well for everyday riding and close contact feel. The 1" thickness offers additional cushioning, which some riders prefer for longer rides or added support.

  • Improved movement and attitude!
Color: Pink Size: 1" x 32" x 32"
I got this pad specifically for my Arabian mare, who has high withers and can be a little sensitive. After several rides, I can fully recommend it. The wool is dense and high‑quality, and she’s moving more comfortably with noticeably freer shoulders. She no longer argues about the canter, and on hot days the pad really does wick moisture instead of trapping it. This is honestly the best pad I have in the whole barn. I can’t believe the difference it has made in her movement and attitude. Then, on a whim, I tried it on my very round, very opinionated donkey. Donkey has opinions, strong ones. He will absolutely refuse to move forward if he is even slightly uncomfortable, or if he feels his rider is subpar. We had to try four different saddles before he was satisfied with the fit (and before I was, too). So I was fully expecting him to reject this pad. Donkey disagreed. He loved it. The pad helped his saddle fit better, he wasn’t twitchy, and he moved forward with an easy, happy gait. He even trotted nicely for extended periods, which is huge for him. He also sweats far more than my mare, and I think he really appreciates how well this pad handles moisture. Now my only problem is deciding who gets to use the pad when both horses are being ridden on the same day. The truth is… it depends on who’s riding whom. I’ll definitely be buying another one. My equine friends have never been so happy. As a side note - it really looks good too! Don't be afraid to spend a little extra money on a quality item to have a happy, comfortable horse, it's well worth the price. ... show more

  • Gorgeous color and functions great
Color: Pink Size: 1" x 32" x 32"
This is the perfect bright, hot pink! Think like Barbie or Elle Woods Vibes. Perfect for my princess mare. I got the one inch thick version and it's the perfect amount of padding for my trail saddle. My mare is highly sensitive and she goes very well with this pad. The 32 fits my 16 inch saddle with room to spare. Leather patches prevent girth rubs and wear. I've ridden in it for a month, several days per week, and it holds it's shape well. It feels pretty breathable as even on hot days, she doesn't sweat excessively. After seeing it, one of my barn friends purchased in the teal color, which was equally gorgeous and fit her little mustang very well, too. ... show more

  • Awesome saddle pad!
Color: Purple Size: 1" x 32" x 32"
Im so impressed with this saddle pad. The inch thickness was the first thing i noticed upon opening and I was really excited to try it out on my horse who does get a bit flinchy sometimes during saddling. It works amazing! It seems to provide great support for him and it fits perfectly. The wither relief cut out is a benefit, but its nice that even being a thicker pad, it does still stay peaked under the saddle and stay off his withers. We've ridden in it multiple times and he seems to be comfortable. Hes a sweaty horse and the natural wool does seem to help with that. Even with the deep pretty purple color there hasnt been any color transfer whatsoever. Overall, im really happy with this pad and would love to buy it in more colors! The quality is fantastic and it's an all around great product! ... show more

  • Great flexible, natural fiber saddle pad
Color: Cream Size: 1" x 32" x 32"
This is a nice, flexible pad, though it is a bit on the weighty side, it tucks up into the gullet easily, even with being as thick as it is. I believe the natural fibers aren't as stiff as most wool blends. Really helps to make a good fit. The pad being an inch thick is great for shock absorption. All of the stitching is spot on, clean and durable. I would say the natural color is definitely a good value for this price point. ... show more

  • Well-constructed and feels like it will last
Used this pad a handful of rides now, mostly some flat work and one longer trail ride. First thing I noticed when I pulled it out of the package was the weight of it. It’s not flimsy at all. The wool is dense and kind of stiff at first, not in a bad way, just feels like it’s built to hold shape instead of conforming too easily. Under the saddle it lays flat and stays there. I didn’t have to fuss with it once we started moving, which I can’t say for every pad I’ve owned. Some of them creep or wrinkle a bit under longer rides, but this one is nice and thick, and stayed where I put it. Ride feel was a little smoother through my horse’s back, especially at the trot. It’s not like a night-and-day change, but there’s less of that “thump” you sometimes feel when the pad is too thin or already packed down. It seems to spread the pressure out better. After a decent ride, I checked under it and his back was warm but not overly damp. I’ve had pads that feel like a sponge by the end of a ride, and this wasn’t that. It felt more even, like it was breathing instead of trapping everything in. So far it’s holding its shape well. No weird flattening spots or shifting wool. It just feels like a straightforward, durable pad that’s doing its job without drawing attention to itself. ... show more

  • Soft and thick
The Jeffers WoolLuxe 100% Wool Felt Saddle Pad has quickly become one of my favorite pads to use. The wool felt material feels thick, durable, and high quality right out of the package, while still being soft enough to sit comfortably under the saddle. It molds nicely to the horse’s back after a few rides and helps distribute pressure evenly. I’ve been using it on my horse Birdie, and I noticed it stayed in place well without bunching or slipping during rides. It also does a good job absorbing sweat while still allowing airflow, which is important during warmer weather or longer rides. The pad has a clean, classic look that works for everyday riding or shows. Another thing I liked was that it didn’t feel overly stiff or bulky like some wool pads can. It has enough cushioning for comfort without making saddle fit awkward. The stitching and wear leathers also seem well made and able to handle regular use. The only minor downside is that, like most wool felt pads, it does take a little extra effort to clean compared to synthetic pads. Hair likes to stick to it, so you’ll want a good brush after rides. Other than that, this is a solid quality saddle pad that feels like it will last a long time. ... show more

  • No spine channel
I do not love this pad specifically because it does not have a spine channel. I prefer a saddle pad that has clearance across the back of the spine. My horse has kissing spine so I try to alleviate any pressure directly on his spine. Otherwise, it is a nicely made felt compressed pad. The leather is nice quality and the pad is well-made. It has nice wither relief. I do prefer a thicker pan which this one is I would say if your horse does not have special needs for the spine channel this would be an excellent choice. It does seem to be a bit higher price than others on the market of comparable quality. ... show more
