  • Fun and good sounding trumpet
Style: TR-330 Configuration: Trumpet only
Sometimes you really can get a good deal. The manufacturing quality is all right - you can see some solder blobs inside the middle tuning slide, it's finish is also not as good as a Yamaha. One of the bottom valve covers cannot be unscrewed. The upsides: for me, as a beginner, it's not difficult to play. The tones slot in very nicely, and it's sound is pleasant and clear. The valves work nicely, the tuning slides fit well, compared to a Yamaha it feels a tad lighter - you will not suffer sore arms - , and it comes with a little bottle of valve oil. I'm still not convinced if the trumpet is the instrument of my heart, but buying this one was still very much worthwhile. ... show more

  • Nervous but Just right
Style: TR-330N Configuration: Trumpet only
The handful of negative reviews made me hesitate but the trumpet is beautiful for a beginner. My son loves it. None of the negative things I read aligned with my purchase.

  • Great for beginners and everyone else!
Style: TR-330 Configuration: Trumpet only
Got this back in July of 2020. I’ve had it since and it plays BEAUTIFULLY! So I thought “I should make a review” so I will. First of all the build quality is amazing for the price, it’s no Yamaha Xeno but it’s up there. The 3rd valve ring on this model is non-adjustable but is placed in a very comfortable spot, the 2nd valve ring is in the standard trumpet spot and works very well. The instrument just feels right, the lower register notes and tones come out so easily, nice and dark just the way you’d like it. Higher register is also pretty easy to play. Any dynamic on this horn sounds great. I’m a college student and brought this to a college audition and I was told it sounded amazing, then again it’s the player that makes the instrument but compared to others this instrument is top quality. For beginners this is a perfect instrument, it’s very easy to play on and isn’t very heavy so students can get used to it. Jean Paul provides you with a polish rag and some valve oil which is great, also some gloves but y’know every trumpet comes with that these days. I have the say even the polish rag is made well and feels like a quality polish rag. Now comes what I don’t like, the valve oil that is provided to you in this case is, well good but not the best. When I first got the horn I used the oil in the case, it worked well for about 45 minutes and then the valves started sticking, I took out the valve and it looked pretty dry. I thought maybe I just have to clean the instrument out, so I did a full wash and tried again, this time it went on for about an hour and then the valve started sticking again. I tried a different valve oil and the valve have been fine ever since. I don’t think it’s the instrument I just think it’s the valve oil provided. It’s good for a short gig but if you’re playing for a long while get some different oil it’ll help. The case provided isn’t a hard case but works just as well as one, it comes with some backpack straps to turn it into a gig case and they actually don’t feel too bad, very comfortable and very durable. All in all this is an amazing instrument, very nice to play on and very easy to use. Most of what is provided is good quality the valve oil not so much. If you’re in high school and want a personal instrument I would definitely get this one. If you’re beginning in band and play trumpet, if you want to get a personal horn get this one. ... show more

  • Exceptional Customer Service
Style: TR-330 Configuration: Trumpet only
This trumpet was purchased for my middle school band student who is a gifted musician but still learning to care for valuable items. For the investment made, this is a well crafted, high quality sound instrument that meets all of his needs for band. We have utilized the Jean Paul customer service team and in my opinion they are the best part of this purchase. Their professionalism, fast and courteous service, and thorough follow up is quite honestly the best customer service experience I have had in years. I typically don’t write reviews but I do read them and value others opinions. If you are looking for a quality trumpet for a school band member, don’t hesitate to purchase this trumpet. You and your band member will be thankful that you did! ... show more

  • Valves too sticky - updated
Style: TR-330N Configuration: Trumpet only
I'm getting back into playing the trumpet after many years away so I figured I'd buy this trumpet and have my kids learn while I get some of my chops back. Unfortunately, after a few days of use the valves are becoming quite sticky. Even with the provided oil, there isn't a consistent feel to them. Now I don't think they'll be playing scales like I'm trying to do, but this can be a frustrating thing to encounter for a new player as well. I'm going to purchase some higher quality oil and give that a go, otherwise I plan to return the trumpet and upgrade it to a better model. updated - after buying some higher quality oil, I've been performing daily maintenance on the valves while they break in. The valves have become less sticky but not to the point where I'm satisfied with the product or feel compelled to increase the stars. I'm kind of stuck because it can be frustrating to learn to play when the valves stick, and for a more advanced player, you can't actually play more challenging pieces due to the limitations. 9 month update - valves perform very well now. I only oil once every 1-2 weeks and the performance is significantly different from the first few weeks and months. The break in time takes a while, but it's a solid trumpet for the price. ... show more

  • Good Beginner Trumpet
Style: TR-330 Configuration: Trumpet only
I used to play trumpet in school and missed it so I bought this to start playing again. So far I have had the trumpet for like 5 years and I wanted to review it. I was thinking about buying a nicer trumpet because I'm a Libra and I like nice things. But then it hit me that this has actually been a really nice trumpet and case for a beginner. Like, it's nicer and better price point than the one my parents rented for me when I was in school. Too bad we didn't have Amazon back then..or even the internet but I digress. It has been a very nice trumpet for the 5 years I have had it. I don't play often and it works ok and looks even better. The only thing I can say bad about it is that the 3rd key is a little slow and sometimes I have to be really mindful of it or the notes come out a little flat or off. I've oiled the valves and kept it clean. I think maybe it could use a tighter spring or something, I'm not sure. It's been like this the entire time I've had it but it doesn't always do this. TL:DR - Great trumpet for the money ... show more
