  • Amazing bluetooth speaker
Style: Xtreme 3 Color: Blue
I have this speaker mounted on my golf cart. It has amazing sound quality, claritiy and is LOUD - not even being in a room, driving on roads, it's plenty loud enough only at very modest volume. I love it. I can't fully speak to battery life, but even with long spells between using the golf cart it still has a significant charge. I haven't had to recharge it in ages, so it doesn't seem that the charge fades much with lack of use. I don't know how long it would last with continued use. ... show more

  • Great Bass and Volume
Style: Xtreme 3 + Case Color: Blue
It’s quite large but not too large to carry around the home or on a short walk. It has absolutely amazing bass and volume, it’s pretty crisp for highs too. My favorite mobile speaker by far!

  • Lots of good sound
Style: Xtreme 3 + Case Color: Blue
Love this portable speaker, we take it to the beach or just listen to it in the house. Has great deep sound and can go very loud without distortion. The case however is pretty unusable it’s ridiculously hard to get it to zip up, you have to remove the strap, and still it’s a tight tight fit. I don’t think the case is necessary ... show more

  • Great Sound for my College-Aged Son
Style: Xtreme 3 Color: Black
Bought this for my son to use in his truck (since the truck radio did not work) and at college. Great sound quality even when he turned it way up (no distortion or refurb) -- solid bass. Battery life is excellent - lasts the 3-hour one-way trip to/from college and better part of the day when he has it out and about at college. It has survived the "hard knocks" of college life (drops, high volume, spills, etc.), the harsh weather (snow, wind, cold), and is the perfect size to carry around or plop in the back seat of his truck. ... show more

  • Pretty good. Loose audio jack. PartyBoost suffers from interference.
Style: Xtreme 3 Color: Black
Overall I like these speakers. They sound good. Plenty of volume and base. I like the strap and the hooks. Feels like good quality - mostly. This is my first time trying JBL speakers, and unfortunately, I ran into a bad batch of audio jacks. My first Extreme 3 was perfect; but I also got a Boombox 3 at the same time, and I the audio jack was too loose to hold. I exchanged the Boombox 3 for another, and it had the same issue. So I returned that, and got a second Extreme 3 - and unfortunately it also has a loose audio jack. However, the jack holds just well enough that I decided to keep it. For me, the audio jack is a critical feature. One of the main reasons I got this speaker was to see if PartyBoost would work as a whole-house audio system. Unfortunately, it doesn't. It's extremely sensitive to interference. If you put the speakers in separate rooms, the sound like drops out and sounds staticy; and if you get too close to one of the speakers, it gets worse, and in some cases the sound completely stops. In fact, even in a single room, the speakers have to be pretty close without stuff or people passing in between. In fairness, I never read or heard that PartyBoost would work across rooms (and I figured it probably wouldn't); and I think all they say about it are meaningless things like "amp up your party" and "take your party to the next level". I suppose those are literally true in the sense that the volume increases. So, aside from the stereo feature, which I don't care about and didn't try, this is almost a useless feature. So, since it has two major features which I consider to be somewhat defective, I'm only giving it 4 stars, so that the reader is aware that something is probably not as expected with this speaker, as advertised. However, so far, other than the audio jack and PartyBoost, I am quite satisfied with this speaker. I haven't tried a ton of other BT speakers, but I have tried a couple of good ones, so I'll tell you how it compares. First, is my last speaker, which was the Soundcore Motion Boom. That speaker is basically like a direct competitor, and it sounds decent, but it does drop or flattens some of the sound detail. I think the Extreme 3 sounds better, but not so much better that it's obviously worth the increase in price. The Motion Boom is currently going for $85, and I think I paid like $120 when I got it, but the Xtreme 3 is currently going for $380. (Also just realized I been spelling it wrong this whole time.) But, the JBL has a few additional features. 1) Tweaters. 2) Audio Jack! 3) Anchor hooks. 4) Carrying strap. (And I guess technically PartyBoost.) But, the Xtreme 3 doesn't have a nice handle like the Motion Boom does; and I kind of think the round, rolly body of the JBL is kind of a bad thing; whereas the Motion Boom has a rectangular body that won't roll away so easily. I kind of wish they both had a handle and carrying strap, so its kind of a trade-off; but I do think the anchor points on the Xtreme 3 are a little more flexible. I can just attach a handle, if I can find/fashion one. I could also do that with the Motion Boom (and I did), but it's more awkward, since the handle is basically a wide tube. The other speaker I can kind-of compare it to is the Sony SRSX5, which is a much older speaker; and it's been a couple of years since I had it; but I remember it sounding very nice. Well, I think the Xtreme 3 is probably just as nice, except a couple of small differences. I think the Xtreme 3 is probably a little more punchy (as the Motion Boom is) and I suspect that's because of their outdoorsy, waterproofy design. Also, the SRSX5 is kind of bass heavy, and has a more mellow sound, which I kind of didn't like about it. But either way, I think some people might prefer either sound over the other; so they're about the same in my opinion. Other than that, the SRSX5 and Xtreme 3 are not really comparable, because they're different sizes, and the SRSX5 is not designed to be an outdoors speaker. They're designed for different environments. But I think the sound comparison is still relevant and valuable. In many settings, I think they'll have similar sound abilities. I would think the Xtreme 3 could get louder than the SRSX5, since it is bigger; but honestly, I don't know. I guess another thing I can compare on these 3 speakers is quality and durability; and overall they all seem like good quality, durable devices; with the exception of that one Xtreme 3 with the loose audio jack; and unfortunately, since I found 3 JBL 3-series speakers with such loose audio jacks, that casts some doubt about the quality of the JBL brand; especially in $300-$500 speakers. ... show more

  • This Super Burrito is the Whole Enchilada!
Style: Xtreme 3 Color: Blue
This lil burrito is a heavy sucker but packed with some amazing technology resulting in great rich sound. Love the fact that you can pair it with others to create a group of JBL Xtreme speakers playing the same tunes! Definitely delicious to the ears.

  • Best Bluetooth Speaker
Style: Xtreme 3 Color: Camouflage
Best Bluetooth Speaker that I own. I’ve tried and heard many other Bluetooth speakers. I listen to classic rock and podcasts with it. Great deal at $249 when on sale. I bought another and they are linked in two different rooms on two different floors. The app to control them is basic, but allows EQ adjustments. ... show more

I absolutely love JBL portable speakers. I first purchased the smaller version and was impressed with the sound quality that I had to upgrade to something bigger. I was not disappointed…pro tip….place on the floor and the bass sounds even better😙👌🏾
