  • Quality sound and made a huge difference compared to OEM...
BTW, I ordered the GTO-328's and received the GTO-329's! So, I got an upgrade for free lol and this review is for the GTO-329's. Anyway, I installed these in my 2014 FJ Cruiser dash. I am going to give a little detail about the install, because I know some of you are curious about whether or not they fit. Here goes...They did require slight trimming of the surround plastic on the speaker and I screwed them into the factory plastic surround level, or flat so they would clear the factor grill covers. There is a ring of raised plastic around the speaker that will require trimming. You will also need to trim the factory grill covers to make them work, as there is a "sound director" from the factory that is in the way for clearance. It is a breeze to remove with a good SHARP box knife. Just cut down the ring around the speaker and cut the braised plastic rivets away from the factory grill/cover that holds the sound director on. I believe there were three spots on the back of the factory grill, that this conic shaped sound director was attached. I did all the trimming with a simple box knife and careful trimming. Once the ring around the speaker is trimmed down and the rivets are cut loose allowing you to remove the sound directors, they will fit beautifully! Not rocket science, just a matter of making them fit my application. No special brackets necessary, just screw them to the outer plastic ring in the dash with some fush drive self tapping screws. The speakers come with bass blockers to prevent certain frequency ranges...USE THEM!! The speakers will sound like crackling POOP without the bass blockers installed. Once they were installed, I tried it without them too, the sound was OUTSTANDING. The little bit of effort put into this install was well worth the quality of sound delivered. Very clean highs and LOUD! Beats the factory dash sound by 500%! ... show more

  • You actually get JBL Stage 634
The vendor actually ships JBL Stage 634 instead of the 602. It's a three-way speaker, that should be fine if these are your main speakers or are used with a subwoofer. If you are installing separate tweeters, you might want to choose something else. I suspect that 634 is a discontinued model and this vendor got a bunch at a discount. It looks like a fine speaker for conventional car stereo use. I am installing them in a trailer where they will be the only speakers. Although the speaker magnet bears a JBL label, the JBL logo is missing from the speaker grills. I don't need them. The offered earbuds really are there, in the speaker box. The old Audiovox speakers in the trailer from its manufacture in 2004 had grills that would not come off without ripping the whole speaker out of the wall (where I needed to service some unrelated wiring behind them) and after that frustration, I decided to replace the speakers and drill new holes for the mounting screws. I am happy to say these grills will come off easily if I ever need to go in there again. ... show more

  • review of speakers
Great sounding speakers. The hi's are nice and clear, wish there was a little more mid ,but for a 3 1/2 inch speaker you can't exspect to blow your doors off. Over all well worth the money.

  • Clear, crisp highs..tight bass!
I put these in my 2016 Kia forte EX. Android Joying headunit. There is a crossover and EQ in the headunit...I believe it's 45 watts...set up, these speakers blew me away. For the price they sound amazing! 6.5's with tight deep and responsive bass...the tweeters are high crisp and clear....JBL has never let me down. By the price I expected better and more clear than the OEM/stock speakers, but these well exceeded my expectations! The sound is so clear, tight and powerful! Excellent...I'm thinking about another set for my back doors now. In this price class they have to be amount the best! ... show more

  • There were a couple of minor issues in my opinion but not enough to overcome the sweet sound. I bought these to replace the dash
The highs man the highs! 5 stars just for the insane sound coming out of these. There were a couple of minor issues in my opinion but not enough to overcome the sweet sound. I bought these to replace the dash speakers, left, and right, on my 2009 Dodge Ram with the amplified Alpine system. They are a perfect match since the factory speakers are also 2 ohm like these. These speakers come with a protective ring on top of the rubber surround. In order for these to be used in my vehicle they had to be removed. Be careful though. Try to remove it as gently as possible. If you are too rough the rubber surround can be damaged. I would recommend sanding it down. If you replace these all by themselves without doing any modification on the rest of the system they will over power it. The highs will be too high creating an imbalance in the sound. To compensate I also replaced the read door panels with JBL 6x9's and had an installer create a custom fiberglass sub box under the rear seat. The two 8" Rockford Fosgate subs are powered by a Rockford amp. It sounds amazing overall. ... show more

  • Nice speakers, stupid tall trim ring design
These speakers are right-priced and very nice for an inexpensive 3.5" speaker. However they have a very irritating design feature in that the outer plastic trim (which is bonded on top of the cone surround) is very tall. I suspect this is to protect the tweeter from being mashed down by a factory grille, but most grilles are curved or otherwise have some shape to them to allow more clearance at the center point of the speaker. Removal of the trim ring is not possible as it is bonded to the outer surround of the cone. Worst case, you will have to trim it down with a dremel or similar tool, which is not fun as the plastic is very brittle. Many other inexpensive 3.5" speakers on the market do not have this tall outer trim ring, so they will fit in more places out of the box. 3 star review as-is. Would have been 4-5(at low price) without the trim ring. ... show more

  • Very Flat audio
Purchased these to replace a couple blown speakers in my 2020 Kia Sorento. They are terribly flat sounding and honestly sound worse than the factory speakers. With the equalizer set to negative values, there is still entirely too much treble and mid audio with next to no mid lows. Very disappointed with this product. Looks like I'll be pulling the trigger on factory replacements from the dealer. ... show more
