This chiller has been a lifesaver since the day I got it. No more frozen bottles, no more fish deaths, I started to enjoy my aquarium hobby again:) be careful with the size as it determines min required flow and appropriate pump. Make sure fish can handle the strong water flow from the pump - chiller is basically an addition to the pump :) I bought 1/10 for my 70 gal tank and it is more than enough. It cools water from 75 to 68 degrees in 2 hrs and it is surprisingly quiet! Bigger chiller will cool water faster but will also have stronger flow which you will have to adjust. I recommend a pump with adjustable flow regulator. I am a female and new to aquariums so it took me few trips to Home Depot for appropriate plumbing parts and a trip to pet store for a pump and few days to set up and adjust to fit my needs and I can tell you - it is so expensive but it is worth every penny!! ... show more

This is the second JBJ Chiller I have owned. The first one ran 15 years without any problems till I finally sold it. This one is the same high quality. It is silent to where you have to see if the green light came on to know it has started cooling in my living room. I can barely hear it when it engages. It is powerful and cools my 220 gallon Tank very quickly. Just a high quality product JBJ makes that is worth every penny if you value your Reef Tank inhabitants. ... show more

I researched chillers extensively and settled on JBJ. Reviews seemed to indicate that they were good units, but god help you if you have issues because JBJ customer service is awful. Well, the first chiller I received was defective (internal fan did not work) so I contacted JBJ service. Shame on anyone who bad mouths these people! JBJ service was outstanding, responsive, helpful, and send me a brand new chiller free of charge, along with a return label to send my old one back, and I didn't even have to ship back the old one until the new one arrived. While I was disappointed to receive a defective unit at the outset, JBJ makes a great product that they stand behind. ... show more

Received my 1/5 chiller for my 55g tank with 10g sump, set and calibrated it as required and ran AWESOME! took LESS than an hour to bring my tank temp. 84 to 76.4 @ initial setup, maintained water temp perfectly. It's so quite I did not realize it's running. I would definitely recommend it.

Perfect for my 50 gallon reef aquarium. I set it up inline with my Fluval G3 filter as the pump. Makes an extremely quiet hum like a refrigerator.
