The only reason I deducted one star was because I did have to purchase additional strip lighting as the sewing area is a little too dark for my taste. I am an experienced sewer but we are going on a 3 month road trip and I wanted a sewing machine that I could take along with me that 1) wasn't computerized (because of rough terrain) 2) inexpensive and 3) compatible with my other more expensive Janome machines. I've had it for two weeks now and I'm delighted with it. Even though it is light weight, it doesn't move around the table when I'm sewing. It's solid. And it has enough variety of stitches for the type of sewing I'll be doing on the trip. This is a really nice sturdy sewing machine. It has been a few years since I have been able to own a machine… my old one wasn’t working well at all, always bunching up the threads; it got me so annoyed one day that I ditched it in the trash.
