  • Great machine well worth the price
Style: Janome 8200QCP
Great machine! Updated a ten year old Janome which is a fine machine, but this model is very advanced and easier to use. The YouTube videos are concise and make it easy to transition to this model.

  • It's a whole other level of sewing!
Style: Janome 8200QCP
I used a Bernina in the 1980s till the mid-90s when I moved out of the US and got rid of it due to incompatible electrical plugs overseas. I regretted it 4 years later when I returned and kept looking for lower-cost replacements and being slightly dissatisfied with the Brothers or Singers out there. Then I got zero percent financing to try this Janome and wow, it's truly like a whole other level of sewing than using the Brother and Singer brands. It does remind me of my Bernina 30 years ago, which essentially was able to sew silk without my touching it. This Janome could probably do that too but it's also able to do extremely heavy-duty sewing -- which is what I do more of now -- like quilting through 3 to 6 layers! The walking foot is great and i love that the presser foot lifter has two settings--just up enough to slip fabric around and up twice as high to move multiple layers with the walking foot on. It's a dream to work on this Janome. I only slightly regret not holding out for the Babylock Aria which was the same price-ish but not as easily financed. Amazon gave me a great offer and I couldn't refuse and have zero regrets. This is a fantastic mid-arm (not regular sized or longarm but in between) perfect for quilters! ... show more

  • Error codes within three weeks.
Style: Janome 8200QCP
This machine is wonderful however it is giving me error codes 1 and 7. Amazon referred me to the manufacturer/seller so we will see if it continues to be "wonderful".

  • Janome 8200 special edition
Style: Janome 8200QCP
I absolutely love the sewing machine. I did have to make the effort to get some of the missing standard accessories. Also the caddy is not for this model it is very difficult to get machine into it. It takes 2 people and a lot of effort.

  • WOW!
Style: Janome 8200QCP
After thinking long and hard about spending this much money on a hobby sewing/quilting machine, I am sooo glad I did. I learned on an old Sears Kenmore (my mother’s), then my own two machines. The last being a highly rated inexpensive brand with embroidery stitching that I thought was awesome but it just didn’t fit for my quilting needs so I splurged. I LOVE this machine! After a small snafu of missing the accu-feed foot (walking foot), I took a break from the quilt I had been working on and made a jelly roll rug. I was actually able to do this without a walking foot whiched surprised me! The company made sure I got the part quickly and I got to get back to work on my quilt. With this machine, it’s like night and day between this one and my old machine. It sewed through all those layers like butter! My old machine I was fighting puckering and this one sailed right along, no puckers! The different stitches are kinda overwhelming but I think they will be great. I didn’t use the embroidery part on last machine but a few times so I don’t even miss that and I am keeping it just in case I do need to embroider something. It was a great buy and I’m glad I took the plunge! ... show more

  • Warning: Possible defective electronics of Janome Memory Craft 8200
Style: Janome 8200QCP
I purchased the Memory Craft Horizon 8200QCP during the pandemic at the end of November 2020. It's an adequate machine, but stitch quality doesn't compare to my Bernina 930. Among other sewing projects, I'm an enthusiastic quilter, and I thought this Janome would be perfect for piecing and quilting. A recent incident using the Janome was startling and could have been dangerous. I was sewing with it and lifted my foot off the pedal and the machine continued to sew rapidly. It was almost as if the pedal had stuck in the fastest mode. The only way I could turn the machine off was by using the on/off switch at the side of the machine. I contacted the store which Amazon had used as the original supplier, and it was suggested that the pedal was defective and could have caused the problem. So I went online and ordered a Janome electronic replacement. Tossed the old pedal, which I now realize was a mistake, and installed the new one. Today is the second time I have used the Janome since replacing the pedal. After sewing for several hours, I lifted my foot off the pedal and it continued to race at top speed. This time the only way I could turn the machine off was by pulling the plug from the wall outlet. The Stop/Start button on the face of the machine didn't work. This was SCARY. I have been sewing since 4 when my mother sat with me at her 1948 Singer sewing machine. Over 50 years later, I continue to sew on a regular basis. I have used a Singer, JCPenney, Juki and my all time favorite Bernina 930 and never had an occurrence like this. I will be contacting the distributor tomorrow. I'm assuming that this type of issue would be a warranty repair. UPDATE 7/6/23 Contacted the retailer and was told I needed to get in touch with Janome directly. The warrantee on the electronics on this model is 2 years. $2000 machine with a very limited warrantee. Emailed Janome but have not received a reply. Will update when I do. FINAL UPDATE JULY 24, 2023 Wrote to the president of Janome America in Mahwah, NJ. He forwarded my letter to customer service which arranged for my machine to be shipped and returned following evaluation. Today I received my 8200 QCP back. The foot controller is not operating. So the original problem still exists. Final: Returned again to Janome, and the machine is now in working order. ... show more

  • Its Perfect!
Style: Janome 8200QCP
I had a small Janome -- and I needed a bigger neck for quilting. I wanted to stay with Janome -- and after reading the instructions (bobbin, threading, etc) - I took my first stiches this evening, and its so quiet and moves so smoothly! Wow -- its quite the upgrade from what I had before. I'm very happy! ... show more
