    • Excellent machine
I am very happy with my Janome HD5000. Previously I had a New Home machine that is made by Janome. Had it 5 years and wore out the needle bar, and couldn’t find the replacement part. All of the bobbins and feet fit this new machine. It is much quieter than I’m use to. It has 18 stitches which is more than I will use but I learned how to do the overcast stitch today to finish the raw edges of my zipper pouches. It has a nice “real” instruction manual. I love the see thru bobbin, which was on my must have list. No complaints from this sewist. From my experience so far (3 days) I would highly recommend. ❤️ ... show more

    • Machine is noisy
This machine is noisier than any of my others. Thread keeps coming off thread guide and bobbin winder works but not smooth or tight-thread loose on bobbin & gets caught when stitching, causing me to have to remove & rewind. I had a Janome 6600 which is much smoother to operate, so I may be biased. Overall a good machine, just gets frustrating at times. ... show more

    • Knobs are hard to turn
I'm sure this is a good machine and I liked plenty about it but the knobs were simply too hard too turn for my aging hands and fingers. Plus the stitches are listed in a horizontal line so to get back to the beginning you have to go back through each stitch. I did return the machine, it was just too hard. ... show more

    • improvement can be made
I purchased one, replaced it but at end needed to return this replacement The first one was very noisy and kept movement backward. So I replaced it with another. The second one came and I have picked it up in person so as to avoid mis-handling during local delivery...So happy to get it. However, when I first plugged into the socket (already use socket converter to Hong Kong voltage like the first one), there is a very small explosion as the Led light bulbs, very small one, went off with fuse burnt/disorder...no more light. So, I have to return it......so sad. ... show more

    • Great sewing machine
I upgraded to this from my HD1000. This one has some very nice features that the 1000 doesn't. Adjustable foot pressure and adjustable needle position were why I made the upgrade. Very pleased with the decision.
