Happy sewer here! I am new to sewing, and I wanted a machine that I can rely on for repair and alteration. I spent so much time online watching videos and reading reviews about different brands of SW and I finally decided to buy a brand that starts with "S" because the machine looked feminine and it just looked really nice on the outside, has good reviews, metal-frame, 2nd attempt to sew a pillow case, the needle jammed, hand wheel won't even turn and I thought to myself; "I shouldn't be dealing with this, this is brand new for Pete's sake!" so I ended up returning it. I know, I learned my lesson. What's on the inside is what matters. I replaced that junk machine with Janome 2222. Janome is known for making quality SW's and when this arrived, it came with a lot of accessories. I'm very happy about that and I have pictures of what came with the machine. The manual is definitely helpful, very easy to understand, and I just know that this machine is very durable and it sews beautifully too! I ended up paying a hundred dollars more to buy this machine but guess what, it's worth it! Thank you Janome for making quality sewing machines. This is a mechanical sewing machine which I prefer bc I am inexperienced, and I don't need a high end SW right now, I just need one that sews! :) ... show more

simple and efficient. very nice sewing machine. The needle threading assist is nice, but takes some getting used to. Being amateurs, we are not using this machine anywhere near it's capabilities. It is reasonably quiet and far smoother than the ancient sewing machine it replaced. Nothing was sacrificed when transitioning to this machine. Recommended. ... show more

The janome ibought sews very wll. my previous janome is heavier and larger . It is easier to tilt,because it is lighter weight. It was advertised as it would lift neele higher to accommodate denim,but doesn,t help that much. I am going to try to get my larger one fixed. If I can,t will probably keep this one. ... show more

Great machine, nice bonus package. One of the best purchases I ever made on Amazon. Absolutely love my new Janome machine. My only regret is that I wish I had bought this machine sooner! For years I had been using a Viking that kept breaking down. My new Janome just purrs along--sews all types of fabric with ease. So great! We were caught in a snow storm when my old sewing machine broke. I went on Amazon, and 2 days later they delivered my new machine through the snow drifts and all. Can't say enough good things about the folks who deliver for Amazon even in bad weather they some how make their deliveries on time.     • You Can Never Go Wrong With a Good Janome Machine...
I purchased this for my teen daughter who finally decided she wanted me to teach her how to sew. I have a Janome that I love and hasn't failed me yet...BUT my daughter's machine is amazing that I want to upgrade. I runs smoothly, easy to work with. The manual is written clearly and easy to comprehend. My daughter is in heaven and is constantly sewing and learning to quilt. This was a big improvement compared to her Singer sewing machine that was given to her which had her in tears. You can never go wrong with a good Janome machine!! ... show more

    • IT DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS
For a machine that can do just plain sewing I chose the Janome 2222 to take back and forth to my quilting club. It is light weight but built solid as a rock. It just gets after it without any glitches. Threads easily and does some decorative stitches. I just can't ask more of it. It also makes it so I can use my heavier Janome 6500 at home.
