Description

Not every sewing machine has to look like an appliance. The Janome 1522SP arrived with a touch of soft pinkfor a reason — it's built for sewists who care about their creative space as much as what they create in it. Modern, minimal, and purposefully styled, this is a machine that earns a permanent spot on the sewing table rather than being tucked away in a closet. But the aesthetic is backed by substance: a solid metal frame, 22 built-in stitches, and a feature set that takes your craft to the next level.

Smooth workhorse -Works perfectly No fuss!
Color: Blue
This is a great machine for the price. The stitches are beautiful and even. The button hole worked perfectly the first time. I really like it and I'm an experienced sewer. I will admit at first I didn't like it as much, because I was used to an electronic machine that was quieter. But the more I used it the more I liked it. I had to get used to a machine that has metal parts so they are a bit louder and slightly clunky feeling by comparison. But now I love the machine and highly recommend it for someone on a budget. It can do everything I need easily, like overcast stitches, zippers and button holes, stretch stitches, blind hems and more etc. This machine will last forever and love that it's a mechanical model instead of an electronic one, like the Kenmore I learned on in the 70's! ... show more

Exceptional Machine For The Money
Color: Dark Gray
Had to go through several other brands (the big names) in order to end up here. But I'm glad I did. This machine is an INSANE value at its price. It is a miracle of modern assembly lines and manufacturing that something this complex can be made for less than a thousand dollars. This is a world-class sewing machine, as good as any I've ever used. Highly recommended. ... show more

Supply holder always flips up and never stays in correct tension
Color: Blue
I have a really old model I loved so when it died I got this one figuring it was pretty close- the container to hold supplies is so annoying, it flips up all the time while sewing- and the zigzag stitches always have tension issues even after you get it fixed, rethreaded and or a new needle. Wish I went with something else :( ... show more

Great investment for my needs
Color: Red
I've enjoyed using it to quilt for several months. No issues and easy to use. It was a bit pricey for me but I wanted to invest in myself and get a quality machine. Very stable and sturdy. Only wish it had rubber feet of some type on the bottom.

There are pros and cons
Color: Red
I’ve wanted a Jenome machine for a while and this one caught my eye.. HOWEVER— there are some pros and cons to this machine that I noticed right out of the box.. First of all, let me say that it was delivered about an hour ago and I haven’t even set it up yet- so I reserve the right to update this review after I use the machine PROS- the price was awesome during Prime Deal Days— $230.. plus tax. Delivery was good on Next Day. It’s a simple basic mechanical machine— nothing complicated to learn AND it’s Pretty! I chose red. CONS- my primary use is for quilting and my intention is to use it with my Grace Cutie Quilting frame— therefore I was looking for a throat space of 8-11 inches. Nothing in the description mentions throat space- so THAT was a shot in the dark- this machine only has 6.5 inches from the needle— Same as my Singer heavy duty. No gains there. Next is the bobbin- it’s a front loading and requires removing the extension to get to it. NOTHING IN THE AMAZON DESCRIPTION MAKES MENTION OF THIS! So be warned! And this thing is heavy! Now I will have to order accessories- like a walking foot, etc. it only comes with a Few basics. But it is a low shank so A lot of my Singer feet will Fit. UPDATE: I used this machine for the first time today. It is quieter than my Singer and my older Brother machine. No issues found so far. It does sew smoothly without fabric catching. So far, I'm liking it! Once I finish this quilt top, I'll set it up with my Cutie Frame to see how it works there. With the short throat, I'll only be able to quilt small sections at a time. ... show more

Good buy
Color: Dark Gray
This is a nice machine, I have seen for 40 years, this is sufficient for sewing including heavier fabrics.

I like this machine very much. *Updated*
Color: Dark Gray
*Update* I wanted to love this machine, but not too many times into sewing the needle needed replacing, again and again. The machine jammed constantly and really fought if it had to sew through more than two average fabrics. It is lightweight, which is part of what I wanted but while running it felt and sounded like a toy, not a reliable machine. I am returning it and moving on. *Original Review* I have been sewing on a New Home machine that has been a workhorse since 1971, when I purchased her right off the assembly line. Unfortunately, since I'm much older now, it was a strain to lift and move around. I hope to still trust the brand, even under a newer name, and am pleased with this machine. It was easy to set up and easy to lift. I look forward to many years of sewing with this new model. ... show more
