  • Fantastic!
Color: Black Style: Subwoofer
I've had this since April '23. It is replacing my second failed Klipsch sub. Great crisp bass for my home theater setup. Can't beat the value

  • Quite possibly the best $200ish subwoofer
Color: Black Style: Subwoofer
This is quite a sub at its price point. Don't let the 75 watt RMS rating scare you off. It packs a punch for its ratings. I bought this for my downstairs theater/ music room. I built my own custom subwoofer for my main listening room but, did not want to spend that kind of money on a second sub for a occasionally used area. I ordered other subs and visited stores to listen to some others and was disappointed over and over again. I saw some pretty good reviews on this sub and thought I should give it a try. While it does not compete with my custom build and I know there is better out there, I don't think you are going to get better in this price range. The whole reason I built my own sub encloser, picked out a speaker and matched an appropriate amp is because every powered sub I encountered was boomy and boxy do to an under powered speaker or poor enclosure design. They did not reproduce low frequencies the way they should. Of course, this was years ago and I figured things may have improved. I found that most companies still produce the same old bad sounding powered subwoofers. Until you spend $800 or more that is. This sub reproduces sound very well. There are certain frequencies it struggles with but, again, for its price is pretty amazing how well it handles most low frequencies. The bass is tight and punchy. The only really disappointing thing is its build quality and finish. Right out of the box the veneer was peeling off. It wasn't bad but, still shouldn't be happening. A little wood glue and it was solved. I honestly didn't want to send it back for another one so, I contacted amazon and we worked out a partial refund. The other thing is the grille. It is attached with some really thin plastic post which feel like they could snap very easily. So, I've given you the good and the bad. Now it's up to you to decide if this sub is for you. I mostly use my audio systems for music listening and occasionally for movies. I realize that subs are designed and tuned for one or the other but, this sub seems to do both fairly well. If you are used to high power expensive subs, this may not be for you and you may be disappointed. If you're an average everyday listener/ user, I think you will find this to fit your needs very well. ... show more

  • The most important thing is, it sounds amazing
Color: Black Style: Subwoofer
I picked this sub in part for its front-facing driver and port because I need to put it next to a wall. I also prefer the black ash finish. The only other sub I considered was the SVS SB-1000 (B08X51FVZS) which costs about 60% more. I'm really pleased with the Jamo, especially given the cost savings over the SVS. The bass sounds tight and punchy, not muddy or flat. Based on totally unscientific testing with the Android app Frequency Sound Generator by LuxDeLux it starts to noticeably roll off a few Hertz lower than the specified 29Hz, and still seems to reproduce all the way down to 20Hz (although it's quiet and somewhat distorted). I compared this Jamo side-by-side with a Definitive Technology ProSub 800 (B000TDEM5C) which costs the same and claims it can go down to 20Hz--it really can't, it gets super quiet. Definitive's marketing propaganda notwithstanding, the Jamo's louder and sounds way better. I also compared this side-by-side with a BIC America Acoustech H-100II (B00BG2BDGG) which claims it can go down to 24Hz, and the Jamo definitely sounds better. Aside from the fantastic sound, I like the color-changing LED on the front behind the grille: When the sub's in standby it's red; when the sub's active it's blue. Sound aside, I do have some quibbles. First, the "black ash" finish is very obviously vinyl and, in certain light, looks gray. I bought this to complement a set of Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers (B0148NPIM4) which are also black ash and, while they're technically not wood, they actually look like wood. It's a shame Jamo didn't use better material. Next, there seem to be some discrepancies regarding the amplifier power between Amazon's listing and Jamo's website, the product box, and the label on the back of the sub. The Amazon listing and Jamo's website both say 400W. The boxes mine came in say 200W. The labels on the backs of both of my subs say 75W RMS, 300W peak. Another discrepancy I noticed is my boxes say the grilles are magnetic, but they're not. Also, the only power option is auto-on...there's no way to keep it on/active all the time. At very low volume it sometimes won't detect an LFE input signal unless there's an explosion or other sudden increase in bass. Finally, the packaging just isn't that great. One of the two subs I got was obviously mistreated by UPS--the box had cuts, dents, divots, crumples, and a huge gash, and a lot of the Styrofoam inside was broken. Luckily the sub itself appears unblemished--save for a light scratch on one side I can live with--and it seems to work properly, so I guess technically the packaging did its job. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good subwoofer
Color: White Style: Subwoofer
I was pleasantly surprised by this subwoofer. I purchased 2 actually. I use them primarily for music and stereo subs seem to work best. I got these on sale, which really got my attention. The reviews indicate a shallow roll of instead of a boomy peak. With music they are remarkably clean and tight with no bloating of the midrange. I enjoy them for that reason. Construction is quite good and use them currently as stands for my otherwise full range speakers, with vibration pads underneath. This truly fills out the midbass region and surprisingly opens up the mid range and enhances the soundstage. I'm very happy I bought them for my intention. Only listened to a few 'movies' with them, but they performed nicely. Especially nice for the price when on sale. ... show more

  • This thing HITS!
Color: Black Style: Subwoofer
Bought this as part of a budget surround sound setup. I saw amazing reviews and was recommended this by a friend. I know you can spend an arm and a leg on home audio subs but this thing performs well above what you pay for this. Amazing for music and surround sound. Very balanced for music and absolutely rumbled the living room when turned up. I had to dial this back a bit as it was too powerful for my current setup. Would recommend this! ... show more

  • Best Bang for the Buck for Music Lovers
Color: White Style: Subwoofer
I was wanting to add some lower ends to my stereo set up. I have a 2 channel Denon receiver, 2 ELAC bookshelfs and 2 Wharfedale towers, but was lacking some of the lower ends, as Wharfdales tend to focus on mid-range, which I desire. I searched the various sites, and read multiple reviews, and decided to go with the Jamo C12. I got the white, since the price was already lower than the black, and there was an additional 5% coupon. The grill is a grey tweed, so the white does not look entirely out of place with my blank speakers. The sub came early and well packaged. It was very easy to set up and adjust. In minutes my stereo system was complete. I played every style of rock and roll imaginable. From electronic to folk/indie, early prog rock, 80's new wave, hard rock, and jazz fusion, and everything had the enhancement I was searching for. My purchase was for music only, so I'll leave the surround sound reviews to those who sought this unit for that purpose. In all.....if you are looking for an affordable, quality upgrade for your bass sounds, do not hesitate to purchase this unit. ... show more

  • Fantastic performance for the money
Color: Black Style: Subwoofer
I've been shopping around for a sub to add to my home setup for a while. My budget was around 200$. I use my set up for everything from gaming, movies and music so I wanted an all-rounder sub. I went a little outside of my budget and it was well worth it. The Jamo c912 absolutely delivered what I was looking for. I was looking at Klipsch, Elac, Polk and Dayton in my price range and the Jamo stood out from the rest, for me anyway. Setup was a breeze. Very good quality of materials and overall build of the unit is very good. It has a removable grill and a front port. My room size is on the small side 12 x 15 feet approx. and it easily fills my room with sound. Movies had the deep rumble I wanted without being boomy. It can easily hit bass lower than 30hz. It made gaming more in depth and just added more impact to every game. I'm a big music listener and it absolutely filled in the much needed bass I was missing out on. Everything from hard rock to orchestral music was simply amazing. You won't be disappointed with this sub especially for the price. With a little effort in setting up your sub with your room and gear you will be very happy with this sub. Highly recommend getting this sub if your on a budget but don't want to sacrifice quality. ... show more

  • Huge difference
Color: White Style: Subwoofer
Jamo did a great job packing this subwoofer. Just like I wrote in my review of the 5 speaker setup, this arrived in a nice box and the subwoofer was cushioned well. no damage at all. I was initially skeptical how much difference a subwoofer can make especially since it cost almost the same as 5 speakers. ($164 for the sub and $183 for the speakers). Once I hooked it up I was immediately blown away. WOW a subwoofer really makes all the difference in the speaker setup. The overall sound of movies and CD's just becomes so much more immersive. Even my wife commented that she felt the floors were shaking whereas she didn't notice much when I only had the front speakers set up. For the price I paid I am glad i went with the Jamo C912. Time will tell how long this setup will last but at least for the budget end ($350 + tax) I don't know if you can get a better 5.1 system than Jamo. ... show more
