I've been stressed about the smoke alarm way up high by my ceiling. It's been making noise for several years due to the battery being dead. But I had no way of getting up there since the ceiling is so high. I also didn't want to pay someone to come change the battery. It would cost over well over $100 just to get someone to do the job. Finally, I was able to find this ladder at the right price and the right height. I wasn't sure the height would reach. So I tried it out as soon as the ladder arrived. And look at it! The ladder reaches with a few extension left, which means it can go even higher! I'm impressed and very happy with this ladder! I was able to go up and remove the smoke alarm. I'm removing it and placing it in a more convenient location. There's no reason for it to be this high up. I can just place it closer to the top level where I don't need to get ladder to replace the battery. I'm keeping this ladder because it will have so many other uses in the future. I'm going to use it to help me cut and trim down my trees. It will also make it easy to get on the roof. It's sturdy and strong. The top steps are thinner than the bottom... which was a bit scary for me since I'm scared of heights. But omg! I made it going up and coming back down. I'm so relieved this has been takened care of!!!!

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ: this needs to be strapped on uneven / risky surfaces. Let me start by saying this arrived very rapidly, for being heavy thats very impressive! However theres a bit of a learning curve upon opening. YOU NEED TO PRACTICE WITH THIS, ON STABLE STRONG SURFACES, before job siteing it. The locks are strong but need to be DOUBLE CHECKED . Somtimes the rungs surpass the locking mechanism and dont latch. Do not unfold in a rush and hurry up it. It borders on the edge of unsafe. but with TIME and PRACTICE is somewhat safe. Its a little flimsy ( i bought the tallest one available) but the hooks and stabilizers help and are strong. Takes some getting used to but the idea and convenience is too great to pass up. The fact he got it to being just this weight is amazing! Very compact and affordable :)

Finally got a chance to use the ladder. Had to replace a vent that’s about 25’ high. Ladder works but it’s flimsy. Another issue is the spacing between each step is about 18” so you need to pay attention when descending. The song “time to do some sketchy things” will play in your head when climbing to the top.

Use this to access an attic storage area. Installed two heavy duty screw-in hooks inside the face of the attic opening to hang the upper rungs on and it's sturdy and steady for climbing. Reasonably simple to expand or collapse and not too heavy or large to store away when not in use. Not as good as an standard attic ladder but no place for one in this case so this was a great alternative. Read and follow the instruction when collapsing or you will find it confusing.

I could go into the construction and ease of use but non of that matters. This latter and all ladders of this style will get you hurt or possible dead. The standard space between rungs is 12 inches. I have another smaller telescoping ladder that adheres to the 12 inch standard. This 20 ft ladder has a spacing of 15 inches per step. You may think three inches is not much until you consider the mechanics. You either need to have long legs, very good knee range motion or both. I thought going up was a little iffy but coming down is way worse. So double the price for an a frame with the standard 12 inch step or take your chances. Lastly if you chose to send it back you will need the box. Mine was soaked by an odd October storm. A new box is about $100 bucks so I will use a reciprocating saw of angle grinder to cut this up and leave the pieces at the curb for the scrap metal guys. I would not want anyone to use this ladder. My mistake equals your safety. I can't believe this is being sold.

It would help if there were instruction on how to assemble the stabilizer and wheels. That was a PITA and I shouldnt need to use a picture of the ladder as the singular point of info about how to assemble the product. The rubber parts were nearly impossible to get on at first- until I used a hammer to beat them on. Take down the photo of the guy putting the ladder in the back of the car with one hand- that is completely inaccurate. The 27' ladder is extremely bulky and heavy.

Great buy. This ladder was purchased initially for a specific purpose - to paint a tall two-story stairwell. It did the job wonderfully. I love that it's so compact and can easily be transported in the car. It's light enough for me to carry around with one hand in its collapsed condition. I built a platform for the ladder to stand on while on the stairs. The ladder may flex a bit while climbing up and down - but I'm a very trusting person and never felt unsafe using it. To make sure the ladder didn't mark up or dent the wall when in use I tied a towel onto the top rung. I was very glad to have the standoff that came with the ladder as an accessory (haven't needed to use the hooks yet) because it allowed me to get far enough away from the wall to change the lightbulb in the ceiling fixture (two stories up!) I also made sure to protect my wall when using the standoff by tying some facecloths onto the two ends of the standoff. I was also able to use the standoff as a platform for a box into which I put my paint can. In terms of making the painting process easier I worked with a partner and had her load my brush for me and my roller so that I didn't have to go up and down the ladder. I have, subsequent to this job, used the ladder outdoors to clear my gutter. It will come in handy for other jobs, too - like maybe trimming a tree. The price is very reasonable - certainly cheaper than hiring a professional to do the painting.
