  • GREAT product that works
Scent: Unscented Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1)
Many decades ago a traveling friend told me of this type of gizmo. Since I am allergic to many laundry products, I ordered laundry discs. What's great? No residue of laundry detergents. This means that my sheets felt velvety and stopped smelling of perfumes. Took about 7 washes for the residues to be gone. Cheaper to use than laundry products! Works during the wash and the rinse cycles. If there's a stain, choose a longer cycle and that usually works. Now it sounds like an advertisement, but let me say it anyways. I'm a serious artist, grubbing about in an art studio. My former was a stage hand in a professional theater. Far more grubby... FAR. Everything came clean using this method. Whites. You may choose to add a laundry brightener for whites. This is what is in laundry detergents so that the eye is fooled. Best of all, it does absolutely no polluting. Last: cheaper, good for the planet, less fuss and makes my skin happy. ... show more

  • So far, so great!
Scent: Unscented Size: 4 Count (Pack of 2)
After only 3 washes, the soap scum adhering to the washer door is gone. I have extremely sensitive itchy skin. I have tried a few of the detergents claiming to be for hypoallergenic/sensitive skin, as a well as being free of many chemicals in other detergents. After using them for awhile, my itching gets worse. I'm going to have to give this awhile and see how it affects my itching. Here's hoping it works for me. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth the money. Just try them.
Scent: Unscented Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1)
So I waited to write this. I have had them about 3 months now. And over all amazing. You need 3-4 for large loads. But to try this out I bought the 2 pack (so one order). They work for large loads but doesn’t do as great as a job with just two. For highly soiled clothes I use a splash of detergent and it’s amazing. For large loads and only two balls I just add a splash of softener to get the great smell. On small loads by themselves the clothes come out clean and smelling good. Saves a TON of money. I was buying $20 detergent every 2 weeks. I wash about 2 loads a day. Sometimes twice. After a couple washes it does need to sit in the sun to dry out for a few hours. Not a big deal really. Once a week I run errands and before I leave I set them on my porch. When I come home I bring them inside. If it rains on them no big deal. I also started using these with wool dryer balls. Which I love as well. With the combination of these two products my clothes are just as clean as with detergent and I’m saving a fudge ton of money. Side note: I have a husband in construction. (Completely disgusting clothes) I have a 4 year old boy. (Another mess) I have 3 dogs (one being a puppy so he pees on EVERYTHING) We’re putting these to the test and they pass. ... show more

  • Works, but . . .
Scent: Unscented Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1)
So I'm giving this four stars because it basically works but with caveats. I'm still using these to figure out the best use. I bought these because I have 5 small children and do a lot of laundry. I figured of they work, they would save a lot of money. I'll be totally honest, I don't care nearly as much about being eco-friendly as I do about saving money. So after doing 4 loads of laundry with these (2 loads with 2 balls and 2 loads with 4), I'm still not sure how well they work. My kids destroy clothes and there are stains on everything. It's hard to tell if the stains on their clothes are "baked in" or new, so I can't tell how well these balls are working at getting stains out. I have stain sprayed some things and rewashed and the satin lessens but the whites are not as bright as when I wash with detergent. As far as the smell goes, clothes generally smell okay, but it didn't take out super sweat from some undergarments. I have been using "deep water wash" because of reviews I read here that says it needs plenty of water to work. So much for eco-friendly . . . . I'll try using them with regular water and seeing if it still works. So overall, I would say this is ideal for folks whose clothes are not super dirty, stained, or sweaty. I plan to add a little detergent to every load just to boost the cleaning and stain-fighting power. In the end it'll save me a bit by making my detergent last a lot longer but I think it may be a wash (ha, no pun intended) in terms of how much I save in terms of bucks and the planet. ... show more

  • Metallic scent, not great for deeply soiled clothing
Scent: Unscented Size: 2 Count (Pack of 1)
So, I bought these because my boyfriend has allergies to all detergents. They work—kinda. That is, they’ll get a load of his heavily soiled work clothes clean-ish. They will not remove stains or baked-in grime in a working man’s clothes. I’ve used them also on lightly soiled loads, light bedding. They work okay. Whites do not get crisply cleaned. My workaround for the boyfriend is that I wash his stuff twice. I use hypoallergenic baby detergent on his clothes first and then run another cycle with the laundry balls. That’s fixed it but kills any eco-friendly claim due to using more water and having to use detergent anyway. ***Scent*** These make everything smell metallic. They just do. So, the workaround is making sure you get your wash immediately out of the machine as soon as the cycle finishes and taking the calls out so they can dry between loads (not necessary if you have a load going in immediate succession, but for sure dry the balls if you’re waiting a day or more between use). Do not store them in your machine unless you want to amplify the already metallic scent. I’ve been using these daily for a few weeks now, so I think I’ve gotten a good sense of how they work. If you use them along with other cleaning solutions, they’re a good option for extra clean laundry. If you’re using them with nothing else ever, your clothes and linens will probably get dingy looking pretty quickly. ... show more
