I purchased this knife to replace my original 15-year old Henckels chef's knife (made in Germany) which was part of a set. The big problems I had with my old knife were: a) it would just not hold an edge, and b) my knuckles would bump the cutting board while using. This especially prevented me from holding the knife properly, requiring me to point my index finger along the top of the blade to make more room for my big hands. For my large hands, this knife is perfect. It gives me another 1/3" more clearance for my knuckles, promotes proper grip and makes cutting a breeze. So far, the edge is razor sharp, and I regularly hone and sharpen as necessary so I'm hopeful this knife will keep performing . The fit and finish are extremely good. It's a solid, medium weight knife that has inspired new confidence in my culinary skills. I would have gladly paid WAY more for something this good. Just buy it. ... show more

After years of complaining about our cheap cutlery, dull knives that can’t be sharpened or won’t stay sharpened for long, etc, my husband ordered this knife. He loves it! It’s really well made and very sharp. I have small hands and find I do not favor this knife as much as he does, but as long as he is happy I am pleased, and I can always use the smaller chef’s knife we own (that he doesn’t like). ... show more

I gave this as a gift because I have had one for 30+ years that I still use everyday. This is a sturdy sharp well made knife. If taken care of as recommended it will last a lifetime. I only have to give it a quick sharpening every few uses. Excellent quality.
