Perfect for catching those pesky small patricials that will clog up the aerators at the sink(s), shower head and save that washing machine too. Well built, sturdy, and easy to take apart for cleaning out bowl. It does have a back flow "blow out" to remove patricials on the screen.

Good for keeping debris you can see from clogging the main water filters downstream so early. Installing was tricky, because you need to use lots of teflon tape & form it without letting the threads cut through the tape. Tape it on the light side & it WILL leak. It took me a couple of tries to stop it from leaking ( I think the threads are cut too deep). The siliphos gets replaced every 4-5 months in my situation. That's with myself & my brother living with me. I did have one issue: I tend to over-tighten the housing, eventually I ended up breaking through one of the tabs with the included wrench when I later tried to remove it for cartridge replacement. If the metal wrench wasn't so thin, or made of a thick, tough plastic, it might not have broken that tab so easily. Nick from i-Spring quickly sent a replacement housing (unit is already 1 year out of warranty!). I'd say that was above & beyond helpful. ... show more

It's nice to find a quality product now a days, especially for the $56 price tag. Plastic seems durable, and the metal seems machined nicely. I installed this 50micron prefilter as the first line of defense in my well system, which then goes into my water softener, and then into my 3 Stage iSpring filter. I had the filter installed for 36 days before the mesh screen became overrun with algae and debris. Which wasn't a big deal, I took the filter out and cleaned it, reinstalled and back to normal. I will say that iSpring has great customer service. I reached out to them, and Nick was gracious enough to actually send me out a 100 micron filter to try free of charge. I believe this will prolong the time frames in between cleanings. Thank you Nick, & iSpring! ... show more

I ordered a filter with a micron that was too big to properly filter my water. I called iSpring customer service and they sent me a replacement free of charge. They helped me understand my filter needs and corrected my order quickly. The filter works perfect now.

Instructions say you can fit spin down filter directly to filter canister inlet. The canister filter support gets in the way of attaching spin down filter. The connection leaked badly, no mater how much tape was wound on. Installed fiber reducer, nipples and a union resolving the problems. Should work fine. ... show more

    • Solid Water Filter With Great Company Support

I installed this filter on a well setup with moderate sediment and sand. Our 5 micron filter was cloging every 2 weeks, causing extremely low pressure, so bought this to help. The 50 micron filter was a too small (it would clog every few days and require the stainless steel filter to be scrubbed to restore flow). I contacted 123filter.com (Manufacturers) to see what could be done. Michele was very helpful and recommended I try their 100 or 200 micron filter. She is sending both of them. I'll update the review once I have had time to test out the new filters. I did find the O-ring used to keep the stainless steel filter in place with the brass housing is a bit small. You push the stainless steel filter in and it doesn't feel perfectly secure. I could see the water flow moving the filter around in the housing a bit. Seems like a slightly bigger O-ring would make the connection really tight and remove any play. ... show more

This is one of two sediment filters in my iSpring Whole House water treatment system. I've owned the unit for over a year and as long as you keep them clean, they will filter out the gunk in you water. It's pretty amazing what comes out of a water well that you cannot see. iSpring is also a great company with wonderful customer service. I got lazy and didn't clean this regularly so they got really filled with iron. I called iSpring because i wanted to purchase only the inside filter and not the whole housing unit again. Michele went above and beyond; she sent me two replacement filters so I could have a set to soak and clean while the other set filters my system, keeping me up and running. I received the replacements within a week at no charge to me. I'm glad I chose this water treatment system and this company!! They really help you figure out your water problems, not like the box store solutions. ... show more
