I'm not using this container for its intended purpose, which is pet food storage. I'm using the 11 pound option to house isopods. I needed a cheap container that sealed around the edges so that mites and fungus knats have a hard time getting into my culture. This product fits the bill. There is a foam-like seal attached to the lid. The lid is on a hinge, and unlocks with a little clasp lever thingie on one of the short sides. I can take the lid off and back on its hinge easily enough to clean it, but I dont see it coming off its hinge on accident. There is also a little stop so the lid cant overextend the hinge and snap off. The lid will remain open in the up position without having to hold it. The plastic is strong enough to knock around, and has enough flex to not be brittle. The lid is well made and has a bit of reinforcement built into the geometry of the inside. Seems to be a pretty sturdy design. I can picture the foam seal breaking down over time or even molding if it isn't dried properly after washing. That's the only downside I can think of. I would(and will) buy this container again if/when I need another one. This product has my recommendation as an affordable option for storing both dry pet food and isopods. ... show more

We use for dog food, and it keeps it sealed. It holds about 8 pounds of dog food, leaving room for a 1-cup scoop on top. Very sturdy container. We've used ours daily for 8 years with zero damage or wear & tear. Hell of a deal for $15. I feel like running it over in your car is the only thing that will break it. Got for dry item storage in pantry. Works good so far. Only issue is the top. The part that holds it on opposite of the latch is horrible. It's really a pain to get aligned. I had bought the 30 pound container last year and wanted to get a smaller size to fit on top. This is space saving and the capacity is just what I needed. It was easy to assemble and will be easy to clean. It's good quality but a little expensive. I wish I had bought the 2 piece set in the beginning since the smaller capacity wasn't much less then the 3 times as large container with wheels. The larger capacity worked great but it was a pain for my husband to get down to the bottom to scoop out the cat food. He just kept adding a new bag of food on top of the old food in the bottom. Pouring the last bit of cat food in the bottom of the large container into the smaller container that sits on top will work out much better! I wanted the lid in black to match the other container but it wasn't available so bought the blue lid. I'm happy with my purchase except for the price but if I had been smarter I would have bought the 2 piece set in the beginning but didn't realize my husband wasn't going to finish up the old cat food before adding the new. ... show more

For those that are wondering, it is NOT stackable on the 11 lb. container. I bought this to go on top of the already stacked containers I bought, but it doesn’t fit into the same grooves on the 11 lb. container. I’m going to keep it because it’s a good airtight container in general.

I previously used just a standard tote but after my older cars getting increasingly picky I read that using an airtight container could help maintain freshness and picky eating. This container works well and appears to seal well. The only catch (and it's not a big deal) is that it's hinged so it only opens from one side.
