We purchased two of these recliners as gifts for my mother and father in law. Nice quality chairs, very comfy and sturdy, and just the right size. Love the faux leather, the gray looks nice and rich, and soft to the touch, and wipes clean like you would expect. It feels like a higher grade of faux leather, it did not feel cheap and "plastic like", a pleasant surprise! The lift mechanism is nice to have and works well, it not super fast, nor should it be super fast, that feature is for old ones and it works like you would want it to!     • Substantial chair
The chair arrived early, but on two different days (because of weight). We were happy to get it ahead of predicted delivery date. The description of the chair and its dimensions were pretty much spot on. I’m 5’4” and chose the Large size and it’s nearly perfect for me. Really appreciate the heat and massage features, and was thrilled to find that the massage and heat go all the way up to my neck and shoulders. I did choose the faux leather in a medium brown so scuff marks won’t show much. It’s a good surface / color combination for any decorating theme. The padding is firm, which also works well. It’s easier to add a cushion than to contend with a sloppy chair. I do have a couple of complaints. One is the length of the heat/massage control. Way too short. The second is more of a suggestion; lighted buttons on the remotes would be so helpful in the night. ... show more

    • Excellent recliner for the right individuals
It's an excellent product. It's well made, it looks great, it works fine, the assembly wasn't too difficult. I purchased it to replace a manual one that was about 4 or 5 years old. I have inoperable spinal stenosis that is getting worse with age. Earlier this year I began to no longer be able to sleep in a bed. Not a regular box spring, not memory foam, not latex. One night when staggering out of bed in the middle of the night due to discomfort I went out an sat in my old recliner which is always comfortable to sit on, but I had never used it much as a recliner as I can't watch TV like that. This night I did open this manual recliner and my spine was so much better in the morning. I've been sleeping on it since June and it was less than $300 when I purchased it. Assuming that something of a higher quality, that was electric, that got good reviews, that opened longer would be an improvement. The first night on this was not good, the second better and it's been 11 nights now. It's not as soft as the old one, but my hope is I will adjust, but the big issue I am having with this is the fabric. It's slippery and I wake up in the middle of the night much further down than I set myself up earlier. I've covered it in blankets with some texture, but the same thing happens. Again, it's a fine product, but this unusual part is not working for me. If it didn't weigh 123 pounds and require me to take it all apart again, I'd return it and try something else, but that's much too big an endeavor for me. Maybe I'll figure out how to stop the slipping or I guess I just get used to it. I hope. It's really nice. 12/12/24 edit: Most of what I originally stated two months ago is true, though the slipping complaint was a bit ridiculous. However, while this is a great looking chair, a comfortable chair that operates in every way very well, after two months, I do not recommend to those with spinal stenosis or in need of great lumbar support. It's not terrible, but it could be better and and my 5 year old one is for that purpose. I'd by the old one again, but the manufacturer doesn't make the model I have anymore.     • AAA+++ 9188, size medium, lay-flat, lift recliner is EVERYTHING that I’d hoped for!
I’m disabled (with a plethora of conditions) and finally found this model 9188, Irene House, dual Orkin lay-flat recliner. It allows me the best possible position to lessen my pain and discomfort (while sewing, watching TV, or using my lap-top) to have my back and legs at a true 90-degree angle (legs straight out, back straight up). There are a lot of recliners that claim to be lay-flat, but the leg rests do not come up all the way—this one does! The 90-degree angle was first and foremost for me, However, I also get great relieve from the heat and value the massage and sleeping position functions. All-in-all, I highly recommend giving this Irene House 9188 (size med works well for 159-lbs) recliner an outstanding, a 10, and an AAA++++! Thank you, Irene House, ... show more
