I bought two of these, one for our Camry and the other for our Tundra. The one in my Camry earns the distinction as my favorite phone holder I've ever owned—and I've been through several—including other suction cup-type holders, vent attachment-type holders, CD player-inserted holders, clipped-to-the-dash holders, and attached-to-your-rearview mirror holders. None of them were as good as this one, in my view. The one in our Tundra has done okay but, unfortunately, the entirety of that vehicle's dash is curved, so it's been difficult to get the base to remain completely flat. Still, it holds up pretty well. The reality is, between the curved dashed and the enormity of our two phones, we're arguably asking too much of any suction cup-type holder in that particular vehicle. All things being equal, this is a solid phone holder that accommodates nearly any phone size, even the behemoths that are common nowadays. ... show more

Have been using this for about a month and am pretty happy with it thus far. Bought iOttie based on good reviews of their phone mounts by Wirecutter. So this mount, even with the arm fully extended, didn't have the length necessary to attach low on my vehicle's windshield where it could keep my phone easily visible without blocking my view (needs to be several inches longer to be a feasible windshield mount for my car) and reviews had me worried it wouldn't stick to the textured and curved dashboard. HOWEVER, there's a smooth, flat-ish plastic area on the dash just in front of the display (and extends a bit to the right of the display) that turned out to be the perfect mounting spot! The suction cup by itself attached SUPER securely to that area - no adhesive pad needed, and no worries about damaging the dash with adhesive - and with the arm fully extended, the placement puts my phone in just about the perfect spot. Very happy it worked out! Not sure if other vehicles have a similar flat-ish smooth plastic area. In terms of functionality, the mount holds my iphone very securely and seems high quality. Do not see any flimsy parts like foam or the like that could break down quickly. One star off because: 1) The info is misleading in that the arm itself does not extend 8", it's only 6.75". Eight inches refers to the total length from where the unit is suctioned to the where the phone sits. 2) The spring action that powers the sides of the mount to snap onto the sides of the phone when its inserted is kinda harsh and with a newer phone I’d worry about potential damage to the phone. Not a huge deal because with two hands and slightly more effort that mechanism can be avoided, but would've been nice if it was a bit gentler. Overall def recommend. ... show more

This phone mount sticks to my slightly curved textured dash, and it’s installed at a slightly tilted angle. So far, it seems very snugly connected even in the hot sun. It adjusts in so many ways that it can work for many situations—dash that’s further out, probably even the windshield. I’ve owned several of these and this one has been the most versatile. It also adjusts for a taller phone. I would have loved the bottom adjuster for taller phone to allow for a little more height in case I want to turn the phone horizontally, but I’ve had no issues with the phone falling out. The grip is good on the arms, the release is easy to pop the phone out. And best of all, the arms automatically snap closed to grip the phone when the phone is pressed into the back of the holder. ... show more

I’ve had this item for over 12 months now. It still works and I’m still using it. I bought this item so that I could set my GPS on my phone when driving. I’m bad at listening to directions and seeing my phone screen really helps me. It makes my life easier, I make less wrong turns and I don’t ever need a co-pilot when driving. Also where I put it on my dashboard, my phone can read my face so it easily unlocks. The first day I got it, I applied it to my windshield on a super hot day. The next day it fell off. So I just reapplied it to my dashboard. I was worried it wouldn’t restick but it did. 12 months later and it’s still stuck to my dashboard! Every joint on this item is pretty much adjustable so you can get it at the perfect height and angle. Cons? It’s bulky, but I can live with that considering how convenient this item is. The first day it was very distracting to drive having this thing on my dashboard but I got used to it. If you have a tall phone it will take up space. The “hand” on the item that grabs the phone has a little ledge that goes on the bottom of the phone. You can’t adjust the ledge height so you’re stuck having your phone on a certain level on the “hand”. My solution was to just turn the “hand” upside down - the side grip is so tight that not having the ledge at the bottom isn’t an issue. ... show more

My 2013 VW GTI does not have nav, Apple CarPlay, etc. it also does not have any ideal surface for mounting or setting a smart phone. This device is the perfect solution! I now feel like I have CarPlay since I can easily control my phone without taking my eyes off the road for more than a second. I bought the holder primarily to have a more visible way of using my phone for nav, but also find it’s now easier to play music via Bluetooth, send messages via voice commands, etc. CDs can still be played with no problem. My only critique is that the rig does shake some (my reason for 4 stars instead of 5) but not enough that it’s a visual problem, and it doesn’t make a noise. it still holds my phone I’ve driven from Texas to Colorado out to Ohio then back south to Alabama and back to Texas with this holding my iPhone 13 Pro Max with a beefy otter box case and do arborists,carpentry, and painting work and have had to go off roading for some jobs and the only time my phone would fall was when I drove on graded backroad trails at 30mph other than that it’s holds my phone pretty good and the clear suction cup has turned yellow but that’s expected when I park in the heat of Texas for long periods of time ... show more
