Now first of all, does it work? YEA! I'm sure this will work fine. BUT! For $8.00 I kinda expected a little more then JUST a bar of plastic with a magnet in it. No metal inside, not smooth at all. They just cut a measurement of plastic, and cut another one, and a magnet, and stuck it all together. More effort in a design please? What would I want/expect? Well, if this was a metal bar, coated in teflon that was nice and smooth like stir-bars are. That would be nice! It wouldn't be very expensive to make, and would be worth $8! Maybe even a little more. This thing looks like something I could buy at a dollar store if they sold them, lol. I'm not at all happy with it. It also doesn't come in any kind of packaging, not sure if this is actually the intlab brand ( if that's a brand at all? ) or if this is made by someone in their basement. Also the end piece isn't even glued on or anything. It pops right off... I'm returning it. Going to glue a magnet to a steel rod, wrap teflon around it and heat the teflon a little so its near-air-tight. ... show more

Magnet could be a little stronger... It doesn't move spinbars through glass very well, it would be nice if I didn't have to submerge it every time. But hey, that's why I got this thing, because it's submersible :P Such a handy tool!

There's nothing like fishing out a stir bar with gloved hands, or trying to slide it up the inner side of the beaker with another magnet. Just plop this guy into your vessel and you can keep the icky stir bar a safe distance ready for cleaning.

I really like this product, pulling magnets out of mixes and beakers is a pain; but with this Magnetic Stir Bar Retriever it is easy. Changed my life; I do recommend the Magnetic Stir Bar Retriever.

Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Picks up stirrers, but it will work better if the stirrer is pushed out of range of the magnet in the stirring machine or best remove it when the container is no longer in contact with the magnetic stirring machine.
