The good: 4 of these did a great job heating our 3000 gallon pool. I estimate it increased the temp by 10-12° in the Pacific Northwest. The note-worthy: We had to increase our pump capacity to use 4 solar panels and the Intex skimmer. The bad: 2 of them failed at the seams within 6 weeks, causing 1/3 of the pool water to leak out each time. We took great care to protect these, but they failed anyway. Neither Intex nor the seller would refund our money, which is disappointing since I don't want to risk losing so much water in the pool and wrecking our pump if the water level gets too low.

Ordered 2 sets of these (4 total) and have had them installed for 6 months now. Read a lot of reviews about bursting/leaking and I can only assume it's because people are trying these into their 1 hp+ pool pump. I got a cheap submersible pump that only has a flow rate of 60gph which is much closer to what they recommend for these panels. Too much pressure and of course they will leak. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. But beware these are NOT solar panels. They are simply black mats with coiled black waterways that passively heat the water. Similar to leaving a black hose cooled up in the sun. However they DO work. Raised my inground pool temp about 5-6 degrees. I'm planning on adding 2 more to hopefully raise the temp closer to 10 degrees.

I ordered two of these mats last year and they busted within 30 minutes. We had to return them and ordered two more. We just put our pull up and used the two new ones that were sent to us and they busted as well. Not even one day. They worked well to heat the pool but doesn't matter if you pay that much for mats that bust. Hoping we can return for a full refund.

Have two of these on a 5000 gal above ground pool in Missouri. It does make a difference. They need to be mounted at the same level as the pool... I tried mounting 5' over the pool and my pump wasn't strong enough to push the water through. I have used for 6 weeks now. I expect it to last 2 summers... I would not expect it to last 4 summers. Update 7/2024. One heater sprung a leak last summer (makes a great trunk liner now). The other one is still going strong.

Not easy getting 1 1/4" fittings for this and not impressed with the temperature delta, but you get what you pay for at $40.

Many people complained about them leaking. Sure enough, one of ours sprung a leak where the 2-way valve connects. I applied a little E6000 adhesive to the flap over the joint where it was leaking and haven't had any issue since. I should mentioned that is for a tiny 450 gallon, 8.5' X 5.5' X 2' pool and it gets water from an adequate pump as suggested by Intex (sorry, I don't know the model number). I understand you shouldn't have to fix it, but at the price these cost, and what they do and how their designed, you really don't have many options. So sure Intex needs to make improvements, but listen, I have a 1 and half year old girl, summer is here and "We're In This Together" with putting up with this pandemic so make due with what you have and get better results rather than complain and return something when you know there really won't be a better option for a replacement because other options cost substantially more. Would I suggest you buy these? In a pinch, Sure. Long term use? No. Most likely, you're will leak, are you OK with adding a little glue to get by? Yes Stick to the suggestions about pool size they work in though. For our tiny pool, this pair is great, but if the pool held 3 times the woofer, I feel you would need more of these panels to warm the water effectively. I mean, you only need to raise the temp to about 85 - 88 so it feels great but I guess it depends on how low the temp gets in your case. For us, the water drops to mid 60s over night. Letting the pump run when the sun comes out gets it to the right temp in about 4 hours. Anyway, hope this helps.

After only 2-3 weeks of use, 2 out of 4 of my heating pads burst, nearly draining my pool and damaging my pool pump. Thankfully I was home and turned off my pump. Both mats burst in the exact same spot, so I suspect it’s a systemic problem with the design. Customer service begs to differ. They will deny your refund. Instead of this product, I recommend you buy the floating pool cover heaters. It looks like bubble wrap. I’ve tried that and it works more effectively and won’t explode, draining your pool. To summarize, don’t expect a refund for this garbage product if and when it fails.
