  • Excellent price to performance in a more normal power envelope than K parts
At the appropriate price this is an excellent CPU that runs at significantly lower power than the now notorious K variants. IPC is excellent and if you can use the E cores, not sure even Windows knows what to do with them, programs that can use all the cores will rev. Still its a good idea to be sure your motherboard has the latest and greatest BIOS fixes. After several months of daily use its been rock stable, seems faster and generates less heat than the comparable Ryzen it supplanted. ... show more

  • MONSTER CPU
According to benchmarks that I checked this CPU only falls behind the 14900 by a mere 10 percent if not less in a lot of cases. 20 cores, 65 watts, and holy moly does this thing chew through CPU heavy tasks. Notable accomplishment is loading chunks using the Minecraft mod Distant Horizons which is a very CPU heavy (and overall slow) process. The 14700 gets all the cores and threads utilized and absolutely blasts through chunk loading! One thing to note however is that you should ABSOLUTELY NOT touch the CPU cooler that comes with this thing though. The Intel RM1 isn't even powerful enough to keep the i3 12100F from throttling (I replaced my 12100F with this CPU after realizing my Synchron piano VSTs couldn't render audio properly on 4 cores) and when the 14700 goes to full load the cooler can't keep up and the CPU will hit over 100 C instantly. I put an Arctic Liquid Freezer 240 on it and that keeps the CPU running under 50 degrees even under full load. Do NOT bother running this CPU without a water cooler unless you have a crazy good ventilated case. For the price, the performance is amazing, there's a reason it's one of the best CPUs on the market to this day. For those who are curious about gaming I'm using a 3060 ti with this CPU at 1440P (and previously at 4K) so the 12100F was hitting about 100 percent when the GPU was but now the 14700 sits at 5 to 25 percent during gaming. If you have a 3060 ti then use a 12100F there's no reason to use a 14700, I needed this one for piano VSTs to run and for Distant Horizons chunk loading specifically. ... show more

  • Great CPU
Awesome CPU, Little Power Hungry at time and generates a lot of heat that requires better than a stock cooler, A AIO Cooler is the route i took to cool the cpu, honestly it's been running pretty decently, Great CPU for the money if you can grab it at a deal

  • Powerful CPU but make sure it’s configured right
This is a good CPU. The only issue is that the motherboard has to be configured to not let it run at full bore for too long or it will overheat. But an mobo firmware update had the right power settings and the cpu stays at a much more reasonable temperature. The slow down from the max turbo speed does not make the system feel at all slow. The normal speed and high number of cores are plenty sufficient to make the system feel snappy and to handle high loads with ease. Video transcoding is blazing fast; it can run faster than real time. With the right power settings it is very stable. The fan noise can become noticeable at high loads but it’s nearly silent at idle and quiet at medium load. This is good bang for your buck as for getting a lot of cores at good click speeds. The only reason for deducting a star is because it needs some know-how to ensure it does not overheat. If it did not have the potential to go to fast out of the box it would be five stars. ... show more

  • Great processor for my needs
I installed this with a Thermaltake Gravity i3 95W CPU fan and on multiple checks my CPU stays in the low 30s Celsius range which is plenty cool. Other reviewers have complained about how hot it gets but I am running a standard protocol in bios and not overclocking, so I am very pleased with how my new Windows 11 build is running. ... show more
