  • Intel i3-14100 in a TrueNAS machine
Style: Computer Processor
Consistent temps and solid performance on my TrueNAS setup. PERFORMANCE: - Handles I/O ops on 3 data pools: 8x12TB RAIDZ2, Mirror 2x8TB, and a single external24TB. IN/ OUT speeds upwards of 8Gbps, rarely experience lag due to CPU, the bottleneck is always from disk read/write. TEMPERATURE: - With the stock cooler I average around 40-60C, even when ambient temps are high during summer months. NOISE: - The noise is not noticeable even at high clock speeds, the HDD's are louder than the cooler. EFFICIENCY: - I've never seen my NAS pulling more than 100w under load, CPU idles around 20-30w. Running the NAS 24/7 costs me about $4 a month. ... show more

  • Thanks Amazon for fast shipping
Style: Computer Processor
Upgrading from i5 6600. My new i3 is so cute im going to nickname it AWESOME! The cooler is very elegant. I hope it works! Thanks! Amazon for fast shipping arriving a day early and packaged nice! I was really excited about the cooler but the mounting mechanism is aweful. It dont clip dont nice now matter how hard i tried. Theres always one last clip just loose. I can reach on the backside and pop it off easily with my finger. I can understand people on a budget and needs to rely on this cooler and intel provides, Thanks! but i switched over to a cheap waterblock and i felt way more at ease. Intel skimped on the thermal paste. upon first installation i tried a game and it throttled my cpu with turbo boost on. I took the cooler off to try another cooler and looked at the paste it barely cover the cpu. I added more paste on top of intel paste and got a 15c drop and no more throttle. If you dont have better cooling solution i advise you get more thermal paste for sure. I test CPU on game COD MW3 before with intel 6600 i get 35-50fps with a lot of micro stutter. now with new intel i3 its getting 80-120fps smooth. and the fps counter saying its only using about 10-15 % cpu activity! im very happy. Thanks! ... show more

  • Works great for a budget PC build that will do Windows 11!
Style: Computer Processor
I got this I3-14100 cpu as the heart of a budget rebuild of our very old Dell 530s. It is a socket 1700 cpu with a TDP of 60 watts and comes with a fan as the simple cooling solution. Paired with a B760m DS3H DDR4 Gigabyte motherboard, 32gig of 3200 corsair memory, and a Crucial p310 1 terabyte M.2 storage the I3-14100 works extremely well! The cpu has 4 P cores (8 threads) and has built-in Intel 730 graphics that are fine for everyday usage. I had to mod the old Dell case, since it had no opening for the input/output shield and I rewired the power button. Works great and runs Windows 11 easily. I was inspired by watching an explainingcomputers video on YouTube that used the I3-14100F version of the cpu and a discreet gpu. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for (Great Value)
Style: Computer Processor
Coming from an i5 4590, this CPU was amazing at first. It's still not perfect for the game I play, though (SWTOR). And, but this is mostly my wrong and not the i3's fault, it can't quite handle my Arc A770. When I was using an RX 560 2gb and a GTX 1650 super, CPU temps never seemed to go past 70c or if they did, not for long. But with the arc, my little i3 will shoot all the way to 100c in 0.3 seconds and the stock cooler doesn't help at all. The only way temps go down is when the CPU itself calms down. The solution is a bandaid one. Capping fps in games using the in game frame capping as opposed to MSI after burner/riva tuner works best. It should be noted that the game I mainly play seems to be more CPU heavy, I didn't notice the crazy temps playing RDR2 or any AC games. So take the whole temp issue with a grain of salt and keep in mind I only noticed this issue with the A770. The CPU still rocks my socks. UPDATE: Got a Thermalright Peerless Assassin air cooler and cpu temps stay in 30s and 40s only occasionally 50 - 53 under extreme load. ... show more

  • Solid Upgrade
Style: Computer Processor
The Intel Core i3-14100 is a great improvement over the previous 12100K. With 4 performance cores (P-cores) and a boost up to 4.7 GHz, it delivers solid performance for everyday tasks, gaming, and light multitasking. It feels snappy and responsive, whether you're browsing, streaming, or handling more demanding applications. The boost in clock speed and overall efficiency makes it a noticeable step up from the 12100K, and it’s well-suited for budget-conscious builds without sacrificing too much power. If you’re looking for reliable performance without breaking the bank, this processor is a solid choice. ... show more

  • Great for general use and HTPC!
Style: Computer Processor
I read that this is the best chip to use for a media center PC and I was not disappointed. Low utilization for basic tasks and does great at playing 8k video. And the price is right! I haven't tried it in gaming, but it would probably be adequate for that as well.
